 What a weekend and a great way to end my stint in the Novice Class. My plans had me going up for Saturday practice but i call stating that it was raining and i would really not got to much out of the day. I opted stay home and pack up for Sunday. 3 o'clock came to fast. The drive up was pretty good. I made it from Oceanside to Willow in 2 hours and ten minutes.
Sunday morning practice was not to productive. The first sesion out i was trying to get a feel for the track and bike again after not riding for the last month. I picked it up the last 2 laps out and managed a couple of low 1:30's.
In between sesions i changed out my wheels and tires. I found a hell of a deal on set of wheels for $75 complete with rotars and all. Here comes the novice mistake. i never scrubbed in the rotars to my brake pads. I go into T3 and attempt to brake, nothing.........I grab again, this time with all four fingers and i get little bit of a bite. just enough to slow me down but i still manage to nearly hide side my self to the moon. So, i pulled in and cleaned out my leathers and changed back to my original wheels and tires for the race.
One hell of a long wait this time. Race #18, the last one of the day. I went and checked out the gird. 58 RIDERS on the grid. Oh SH$$ is the only that came to my mind The race started with 52. I was grided 1st with Jason just off to my left. The green flag droppes and i get a so so start. Going into one side by side with Jason i go high and wide and try to pass on the outside. it works and i go into T2 with the lead. I just kept my head down and was waiting for Jason to come up challenge me for the lead. He never did. I was so exicited i never seen the checkered flag and did an extra lap. It was nice to see a couple of 1:29's on the lap timer after the race.
next month i will be with fast guys of Willow. I am really looking forward to the learning curve. My goal this year is to Qualify for the Toyota 200  See you all next month.
