Whats up guys and gals,
Heres my question, I am alot more at ease at taking a left handed turn than a right handed turn, this is the same for cornering...is this because im a noob at riding or is it something else? Thanks for the feedback...

I think when you go right there is less throttle control due to that being the throttle side, I tend to be a little choppy with it, and alot smoother on the left but with practice even that can be overcome

Going through twisties, only right hand turns/sweeps can be blind thus making it my less preferred turn. For me, it's tougher to set up a line where I can't see the entire turn behind a blind section...especially if there's the possibility that it's a decreasing radius just around the corner.
I'm just glad you were asking about turns and not preferred hands.

I used to be better on my left. Then one day I was better on my right. I agree with Rich, blind right handers cause me to be a little more cautious.

I also am more comfortable with left handers, mainly because I am left-handed. But I like rights all the same :).

+1
On open roads where I can see around the turns..left or right im fine..but as soon as i hit the twisties in the canyons and i cant see all the way through the turn because the side of a mountain is shooting past my face I get a lil nervous making those right turns.

I agree with robert and richard. Initially I had a hard time with rights and due to both having less line of sight for blind right handers and also having a somewhat cramped hand position when going right. THis is not talking about riding on the street, but more of less when you are hanging off and your wrist is bent and tweaked in a more unnatural position. Also another issue might be that since we drive on the right left handed turn inherently will be a larger radius turn than rights. Well, that was my excuse that I came up with anyways. On the track, Im indifferent.....scared of both

i think every1 has a preference but they're really all the same once you get use to them

i had trouble with right handed turns for a while but an msf instructor gave me a great piece of advice: since my problem was the throttle control he said to think of pulling on the left grip instead of pushing on the right grip. it does the same thing but chills me out for a smoother turn

my problem with rights is not being able to see through the turn.
thats why i take it easy in the canyons... errr... more like hardly ride em.
its all about the track baby! on the track, i have no issues with either!
i used to prefer lefts, but and then after a while it was rights... now i have no preference. (:

Good advise i'll have to see if this technic works for me, i would like to be alot smoother on the right handers..

I believe its because we drive on the left side of our cars close to a line so we have been tuned for song for that to be comfortable. I'd imagine you feel more in control making a left turn in a vehicle as well. Now we'd have to hear from people in Europe to confirm my beliefs!

I get extremely nervous on my right turns too, and I don't know why, but I agree with BrandonC, I think its cuzz of the seating possition in the car. By the way, not to be a smart ass Brandon, no disrespect but, I believe with the exception of England and a couple of other countries, most of Europe drives on the same side of the road as us. Australia and Japan drives opposite of us also.

Ever since I got hit on a right hand blind turn, I've been a little more cautious riding through the canyons. It seems like I do get more lean angle on the left side than the right. Must be me.

its because ur prolly right handed, i used to be that way too, but then i just got better at riding and you get over it, takes time, but you will get over it...
