What’s up all, I have a ZX6RR and was wondering what size sprocket or something like that would make it easier to wheelie in 2nd gear or 3rd, 4th... Thanks
Not during group rides:D

Im not really one to condone wheelies especially on the group rides...but if you are going for the squidly aspect, you might want to drop a tooth in the front and go up 2-3 in the rear...Im sure you wont have any problems throwing it up then........

Some stunters drop as many as two in the front and go up 5 to 6 (and even more) in the rear. Just depends how stunty you want your bike to be.

you probably dont have to regear to wheelie. ask deno he can wheelie anything. it just takes a skill whith your throttle and clutch....familiarity with your bike, and knowing where your balance point is. I know none of the above. if you do regear your speedo might be off and you will get even worse gas milage and have a sh*ttier top end.

the easiest way to get it up in the higher gears.....gixxer 1k?

I second that, the ZX6 shouldn't have a problem coming up with stock gearing. I've seen peeps on bringing up F2's with 2nd gear clutchin.

Race Ready version huh? Why would you want to turn that bike into a wheelie machine? Seems destined for racing imo.

So what would you guys say if I wanted just a lil bit more lower end umpf and was not worried about top end? Now I'm talkin just a tad bit, nothing huge. Would that mean one down in front?

I went up two teeth in the back and down one in the front.

If I'm pushing hard the front end starts coming up in 3rd....worked out great for riding Streets of Willow.

The lower the ratio, the greater the top end. So say you run 50 rear and 16 front (50/16 = 3.125)

The higher the ratio, the greater the acceleration but you sacrifice top end speed. (50/15 = 3.3333333).

Here's a zip file containing an excel spreadsheet on gear ratios for YZF1000 and YZf750 bikes. This sheet can be applied to any bike though... all you have to do is change the appropriate values and text.

hey ceez. I would go with 2 to 3 up in the rear. Some say that you dont want to go done in the front cause you can cause the chain to pinch and thereby put more stress on the chain. if you go up in the rear you should be good. Also if you go down in the front...or maybe even in the back, you might change the accuracy of the speedo. You will also lose gas mileage...did I say that before....

Well thanks for all the responses. I think I will try to get it up in second without any modifications. Thanks

I think a nitrous bottle would help, too.

So bringing it up a couple in the back will give me the same effect as down one in front? Help me out here I'm slow :errf:

Yeah...if you change either sprocket the speedo is off. Never heard a pinching problem by going down on the front - at least down one tooth.

If you go from 16 stock countershaft sprocket to 15 tooth, you should be fine.

Ok I'm gonna order a D.I.D. gold 520 and some sprockets to go with that. I want the 15 tooth in front and stock 48 in the back. I also want some swingarm sliders in black and a power commander and a chatterbox and a steering dampner etc etc etc. Boy I sure do wish I knew where I could get all this stuff.
So now that I got all that figured out, do I get the link or rivit one? I know we had talked about it on the old site but I forgot.

down 1 and up 2 is a good combo and what ill go to when i need to replace my goods.

if you just want to practice the squidly stuff, i can give you some advice on how to bring it up in any gear.

ive gotten my bike up in evey gear even 6th, but a nice bump on the freeway helps with that (note: dont do freeway wheelies, hypercycles does not condone such squidlyness) but if you want some tips ill help you out, i could get my friend f4i up in 1-4th so im pretty sure your 636 should have no problem in stock gearing.

reasons for gearing for me are so i dont have to drop it into 1st on slow corners.

Well that's what I heard about the 636 but I have the 600. If you can show me how that would be great. Also whats this "squidly" thing all about anyway? and how can you go up in ranks?

If you're referring to the "Squid" below your name, you gotta post I think it's 25 posts to be able to choose your own.

well it depends on what your stock countershaft sprocket size is. My F3 was 15, so when I was down at 14 that becomes a pretty small circumference
