View Full Version : The BACK 2 BACK Official Thread: Streets of Willow May 20th *JUST ADDED*

Wha-wha-what??? That date is correct. Not one but TWO Hypercycles trackdays in the month of May. Now there is NO excuse to miss out on these great events. Streets is a great, technical, and even-paced track to learn some skillz. As usual Repsol, K&N, Tomahawk Tires, Red Bull and other sponsors will be on hand with freebies, raffles, and more!

Not to mention lunch and instruction is included for the price of: $105

Folks, there are not many trackdays so reasonably priced with so much to offer. Personally, it will be a tough decision picking between Streets or Buttonwillow (or both!). Please register with DIAL-IT-IN (http://www.dialitintracktime.com/registration.asp) and be sure to pick "Hypercycles Member" under club discounts.

Post up if you are going to the Streets of Willow trackday! :woot:

never done a track day before and im really interested in this one. how are they set up.. i would be in the newb class... if there is one? dont they divide it into 4 sections? do they give a good run down of track procedures? do i need to bring my own gas?

most track days are split into 2 or 3 groups, and i believe this one will be 3 groups ( begginner, middle, race group). they do a meeting in the beginning of the day to go over all track procedures, flags and how the day will run and are open to and very helpful with all questions. you provide your own gas and equipment and have to make your bike track ready to pass tech, this means tape up all lights, new/slightly used tires, water wetter to replace coolant and safty wire your oil filter. there are instructors out on the track with you as well that can give you advice and follow you around if you ask. its fun and addicting

Nothing to be sorry about. We all were in your position at one time. We have a program called the "New Riders Experience". This is for first time riders and anyone who wants to brush up on their knowledge. Brian Long and Matthew Buck will teach you all you need to know in this program for a track day. Valuble classroom time matched with on track instruction. You need to go to our site and check out the requirements page. Read carefully because not knowing the requirements can cause you big headaches. If you have any questions please email Brian Long at brian@dialitintracktime.com for questions  on the school and Gregg Spears for questions on technical needs (greg@dialitintracktime.com)

do most of you regular track goers leave just water instead of water/antifreeze? i figure in socal we dont really need anti freeze, or is it nessisary for some reaon? cause it seems kinda like a b**ch just switch it back an forth if it never freezes. an whats up with requireing a back protector? is that common with track day requirements? that and what does it mean to saftey wire your oil filter... do i need to buy any specail safety stuff?

Antifreeze is one thing, coolant is another. You will need coolant to protect your bike from overheating. Waterwetter or Engine Ice is a very good substitute. We do not allow coolants with polyglycolene because it's super slippery. Too many guys pay too much money and lot's of time preparing their babies to crash out because of that slippery substance known as polyglycolene. Back protector's are for your safety. Trust me you'll get used to it. It protects your spinal cord which is attached to your brain. Seriously, it's a smart buy. If you don't have one, we'll rent you one for $20 a day. You do not have to safety wire. Safety wire is for Super group only.

Yes, I'll be commuting. Everyone that lives up there tell me that I'll get used to it. Yeah right. With the damn gas prices, I'll be carpooling most of the time.

Streets is a super technical track. I once read, " Streets of Willow is like a knife fight in a phone booth" especially if your on a liter bike. Not as fast as big brother just over the fence but just as fun. Many riders avoid Streets because of the work required. :lift:

Everything?... OK! I'LL TALK!
In third grade, I cheated on my history exam.
In fourth grade, I stole my uncle Max's toupee and I glued it on my face when I was Moses in my Hebrew School play.
In fifth grade, I knocked my sister Edie down the stairs and I blamed it on the dog...When my mom sent me to the summer camp for fat kids and then they served lunch I got nuts and I pigged out and they kicked me out

...But the worst thing I ever done -- I mixed a pot of fake puke at home and then I went to this movie theater, hid the puke in my jacket, climbed up to the balcony and then, t-t-then, I made a noise like this:  hua-hua-hua-huaaaaaaa -- and then I dumped it over the side, all over the people in the audience. And then, this was horrible, all the people started getting sick and throwing up all over each other. :puke: I never felt so bad in my entire life.

I mentioned the idea to Chuck but I didn't really get a solid answer. But hey, Blong's truck would be cheaper, what a nice dood. (plus I don't really have money since Jeff tricked me into parking in the fire zone and getting the Xterra towed. Will anyone be at the track to setup suspensions? I am still not totally comfortable with my forks :(.

David Moss from Catalyst Reaction will be there. I spoke with him at this past weekend's WSMC meet and he has done a good job with Troy Maturo's baseline set up.

Hell yeah. David did an awesome job with our bikes. You certainly started going warp speed after a few consultations with him.

Tire warmers eh? I got $50 that says Sean purposely starts from the back of the pack at the start of each session, just so he pass 10 people on the outside of turn 1.

Man, I am not used to my tires! And damn, my forks just feel like crap! Oh yeah, I need to rebuild my shock, and then I am afraid of my chain breaking. Then, I just installed a new master cylinder. Crap, I forgot to change my oil after last trackday. Finally, I think the planets won't be aligned right, so I think I might not do the trackday, or I'll just watch from the pits.
