USMC RACER
04-19-2005, 05:28 PM
This was my first race as a probational expert. I moved out of 600 novice last month. I finished my novice races pretty well with two second places and a first place last month.
I decided to enter the three classes. 600 MP, 600 SB, and 600 SS. Talking about being nervous. 1st thing was don’t crash another rider, don’t crash my self and have fun. Damn you guys are fast! However, I learned more this weekend than I ever have.
600 mod prod, I was on grid 32 and got a great start. And really started to push it right from the beginning. I really focused on late braking and made the majority of my passes going into T-1 and T-3. I finished in 11th place and turned my best lap yet 1:29:1. The race was called short due to a red flag and i really think i had a shot at top ten in this race.
600 SB, was pretty much that same story. I knew from the first race, it's do or die out there and you have to fight for every inch you can get it. I was on grid 30 and had another good start. And kept pushing into one. I saw an opening and went for it. and passed a few guys. I knew it would be tight but i was all ready commited. Once again I focused on the riders in front of me and tried to out brake as many as I could. Again, I ended in 11th place. Turning all 1:29’s.
600 SS, No time between races and I was beat. From getting up at 0300 on Saturday to make my mandatory corner work. Then three races on Sunday. I was titt’s up. Same story as the last three races except I had a horrible start. On grid 30 again. I went into T-1 in last place. I put my head down and really pushed as much as i could. I was tired and the rear tire was beat. I had a few nice slids. One really woke me up coming over T-6. Handle bars completly at full lock. I did work my way up to yet again 11th place to finish.
Thanks again to all that helped me out this weekend. I truly learned so much in these three races. I was really happy with how I did this weekend 22 out of my 24 laps were all 1:29’s. I guess I hit that rut and need to push a little harder.
