Ladies,
Becky and I talked about doing this trackday hosted by Femmoto in Las Vegas on Saturday, Oct. 1st. Seeing if anyone else is interested! Check out their site (www.femmoto.com (http://www.femmoto.com/) ).
Let's get the Hypercycles ladies together and roll deep! You know how we do.
Femmoto - What is a typical track day ??
It's all about the Experience. The thrill of riding on a racetrack and testing out the manufacturers motorcycles by getting on track demos. No cars, signals, driveways, cops, radar guns, gravel, double yellow lines, or other distractions....just the pure joy of riding!
It's you, on one of the America's most popular racetracks, having a good time and honing your skills in a safe and controlled environment.
It's the ease of showing up at a professionally run event where we have thought of ALL your needs. No baloney sandwiches and stale chili here. Femmoto events are a cut above in every aspect.
No...our track day experience won't be for everybody. We are not a racing school, nor are we an "open practice" session for racers preparing for their race weekend. There are plenty of opportunities for schools and practice session for those so inclined. We cater to select women who want to have a quality experience while riding....just riding...at their own pace...fast or slow, with their own genger.
But are racers welcome? Of course. We just want to make sure that everyone understands that our focus is to make sure that ALL our guests will have an appropriate group in which they can be comfortable, from rank novices who have never been on a track to professional racers.
Spend a day with us...
7:00 AM - Gates Open
Enter the track, sign the venue's liability waiver at the gate.
7:15 AM to 8:00 AM - Registration & tech inspections
Meet us at the registration area to check in and be assigned to a riding group. Turn in your liability waiver and any last minute paperwork to us. Saturday sign up for the bikes you want to demo ride.
8:45 AM - Rider's Meeting
This meeting is mandatory for all riders. As you finish your breakfast, we will brief you on the track conditions, general rules, flags, and a recap of safe track entry and exit. We introduce our instructors so you can pick them out. Immediately following the rider's meeting all beginner group guests will have a mandatory meeting with our instructors for more in depth instruction.
9:00 AM - First track session
The sessions will rotate in order of Intermediate, Advanced, Novice. During each session, those riding in the next session should gear up and be ready at the marked grid entry at least 5 minutes prior to the start of their session.
12:00 PM - Lunch Break
Meet us at the registration area for a tasty lunch for all riders.
5:00 PM (depending on venue) End of Day
It's time to pack up and head home, or better yet camp at the track (where available) or a nearby hotel where you drop your gear and relax. Get ready for the next day of riding!

So...your saying they give you a bike??? Because I don't think my baby would fit in to well on the track. If that is for sure then you might have to count me in.

Hey Sandahl! Yes, they give you bikes to try out.
What does Demo Track Day Mean? You do not bring your own motorcycle to ride. A demo track day is where motorcycle manufacturers who recognize the growing market of women riders bring motorcycles out to the track for women to test ride. Manufacturers such as Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, and Triumph, who attended Femmoto 2003 realize that men and women are different therefore a women's motorcycle will need to be set up diffidently then a mans. These manufactures want to hear what they can do on a continuous basis to improve the comfort of women riders not only on sportbikes but on any type of motorcycle. Femmoto is your chance to come out and support those who support you in your quest to find the motorcycle of your needs.
There are only intermediate spaces available, but from what I hear, the novice group is super super slow. Come join me!

All right girls, I'm in!!! Intermediate (cause of the no-novice-spaces-left thing). Once again, second to sign up after Eileen. Who's next? Sean, you still got that umbrella hanging around? Cause your girlie's gonna need you to hold it for her!

Heh me too :)
Paid and confirmed, honeys!
I noticed when ordering that if you order the femmoto membership, you save $5 overall on the track day. Also, if you add the $35 femmoto membership to your cart along with the stt membership, you will find that the two prices change to make the total $35, so you get both memberships, two T-shirts, and the track day for $120. Nice.
Guys: Why not come for the Sunday track day? $160

Looks like I'm going anyway.. I will just ride hard (or harder) depending on the answer to our question. :)

FALSE!
Check it: Hotels.com lists the Speedway area under "las vegas" on the main page, and they start at $59.00 with plenty of choices under $100. The key? Stay away from the strip.

I think we'll be trying to coordinate room sharing by the end of the week. You, Jenna, and I are in. We can all share a room and have pillow fights and wear our lingerie... oh wait...
I talked to one of the girls who has done this Demo track day before.
LiN Mae: i've a couple of girls who wants to do femmoto but are concerned with crashing bikes... do you know what the policy on that is?
HoolieB: Since they're demo bikes, they won't be liable for the cost of the repairs. It's not like a rental fleet, thank goodness!
LiN Mae: so if you crash 'em, they're just like, whatever?
HoolieB: If you crash 'em (which DID happen last year) and you weren't being a total :squid: they were cool.
LiN Mae: wow, that's really cool! are they slightly banged up bikes then?
HoolieB: No, they're in pristine shape...until we've had our ways with 'em that is...
Still awaiting a reply from Bonnie, just to make sure though...

My response from Bonnie:
Eileen,
Yes, you sign a manufacturer waiver before you ride the demo bikes. You will get five sessions on five different bikes throughout the day. I am just getting ready to send out the email packet for the event.

And my response as well:
Every participant signs a manufacturer waiver. If the rider does something stupid/reckless then they are responsible for damages. If not their fault or just a little tip over then the manufacturer takes care of it.

sounds like a lot of grey area to me
I say you lowside, highside, or run the bike off track and it tips over....Im damn sure you are going to be paying for it.
The only way that I see it working in your favor if someone else screws up royally (runs into you, stuffs you) and in which case they are paying

I think if the girls ride within their limit, it should be fine. I don't foresee any major crashes as long as egos are kept in check.

I wonder if there is a limit to what you have to pay for, some sort of insurance or deposit?
One lowside can run up a huge bill

I booked my own room for the track day cause i wanted to be sure that everything's settled now, and i didn't know who else was going. however, in case you wanna know, i'm in the holiday inn express, it's like five miles away or something. very close (search the hiexpress.com website for north las vegas, by nellis air force base). rooms start at 88/night, look for the best rate, even if you're like an aaa member. it's cheaper this way. i'm glad you're going bex! so glad we're gonna have a couple girls out there from down here.
