My 99 ZX-9R runs fine at low speed, but when I hit the highway and get up to speed and higher gears, my headlight turns off and stays off, my speedometer cuts out for a sec, and my bike's engine seems to cut out for a split second as well, yet the engine and speedometer stay running. I managed to ride it home, but it was scary as hell. Then when I exited and pulled to a stop, downshifting, the lights turn on again and everything worked fine, so I'm guessing there's not enough electrical power at high speed? I don't know if its the battery or not considering that I fully charged it a couple of days prior to tonight. What is usually the problem that explains this? Regulator rectifier? alternator? battery dead (i hope its just that)? I don't wanna take this to kawi as they're probably going to rape my wallet.

First thing I'd do is take the plastics off and make sure you don't have a Ducati under there. J/K.

bwhahahahahahahhahahahaha great. now i have coffee all over myself!!

ok. back to the topic. rip your plastics off and check every inch of your harness for a short. you have some wires that are either frayed or corroded and the vibration is closing a circuit

omg termy, that was some seriouly funny sheeet.....
