I tried to sneak a Palomar ride in with Mike D, and low and behold, we get to the 76 and it was closed on the way up to Palomar...
Argh, finally get a chance to go up there and it's closed. Anyone know how long it will be closed for, hopefully it was a one day thing.

Today was the day to go too....it's supposed to snow up there tonight/tomorrow with the storm that's moving in.

HIGHWAY 76 CLOSED UNTIL NOON
Printer-friendly version
(02-02-2004) - A van driven by a drunken driver plowed into a power pole along Highway 76 early Monday, prompting authorities to shut down the road in both directions until noon, officials said.
The driver fled the scene but was later arrested by the California Highway Patrol, officials said.
Highway 76 was shut down in both directions and will remain closed until noon as crews remove power lines criss-crossing the road, CHP Officer Jim Bettencourt said.
Westbound lanes are closed at the Highway 79 entrance, while eastbound lanes were shut down at the Valley Center Road entrance, Bettencourt said.
The driver of a 1987 Chevrolet Astrovan vehicle struck the power pole just after midnight east of Valley Center Road, Bettencourt said. The crash caused power outages in some areas.
The driver sped away, but CHP officers later caught up with him and arrested him on suspicion of drunken driving, Bettencourt said.

Storm hit LA. One second it was overcast with a little sprinkles, then at around 7 PM it just dumped a whole bunch of rain.

Damn that sucked. It takes awhile for me and Mike to get up there non-stop from South San Diego, and when we got to the 76 to make the right up to Palomar, we just saw a road block with about 3 Highway Patrol Cruisers chillin'. That was seriously frustrating :grr: . Now it's raining and there is supposed to be snow up there.

Allan do take 15N to 76E? Isn't it faster to take the Via Rancho exit to Lake Wohlford?
