USMC RACER

The weekend started off on one of those late Friday night phone calls from a buddy of mine. Hey I need a “HUGE” favor? No problem, what do you need? I need to borrow your bike for the new racer school………silence……….ummm, why is that :errf: . (all I could picture in my head was mangled metal and plastic). So he went into his story and in the end I let him borrow my bike. The famous last words, if you crash my bike, I sh!t you not, I will kill you. He ended up doing really well for not being on the track in 2 + years. Got his license and no crash.

This left me able to concentrate on my two races, 600 MP and 600 SS. Race #2, 600 MP. I was grided 19th just back and to the left of Shaggy. We both get a great start and I follow him all most all the way into T1 when I see a slight opening and move to mid track come out of T1 in about 10th. Right away I just put my head down and tried to catch as many riders as I could. I really worked on T5 and T6 on Saturday practice and was getting a pretty good drive out of there, finally. Pass a ride going into T8. Lap one is down and I pass 2 guys going into T1. Come out of T1 and take a look at the lap timer 1.29.4, damn push harder need some 28’s this month. I continue to push and I see the lead pack as I come over T6 going into T8. Hell, I am in 5th place right now. How did that happen is all I could think about. I come up hard on Siminski and we battle for a bit, Again I take a look down at the lap timer, however this time a Smiley face is blinking BEST LAP 1.28:7, Siminski was really pulling me around the track, then the red flag. Hell no, I am in fifth. I worked to hard to get up here. I hear the announcer stating we will have a restart. Grid back up to 19th but this time I get a pretty bad start. Again I put my head down and pushed as much as possible for the last few laps. This time I battle it out with Bates, I finish up 7th in the race and turn another 1.28:9. I was very happy with my times and I felt really pumped after the race.

Race #15 is next, 600 SS. For some reason or another I guess I was to confident after the 600 MP race and I felt as if I had a really good shot at finishing in the top 5. Was I way wrong. I see Beck, Perez, Sullenger, Carnibucci, Lane and Hoffman on the warm up lap for about a split second as fly by me as if I am standing still. OH SH!T, this is going to be a long 8 laps. And sure enough it was. Grided up, 19th again. And not to much to say. I was schooled but I did learn a lot from Bates and Herreos, we had a good battle going on. I finished up 9th but never did get back into the 28’s. Next month should be great. I Cant wait to get back on the track
