1989 Honda CBR600f a.k.a. Hurricane – semi-naked
Title: Clean
Mileage: 33K
VIN: JH2PC1912KM200419
MPG: 45-60 mpg
Asking Price: $1500 obo
Contact info: jeffreylin19@hotmail.com or (714)8121466
Location: La Jolla (San Diego), CA 92122
Included: Front Rim with used tire on, extra (undented) Gas Tank, matching AGV helmet, and spare CCT.
Condition: Bike is in mechanically good condition. Starts up strong and many parts are fairly new. Recently repainted the bike and changed brake fluid. Cosmetically, the front fairing is aftermarket and slightly scratched, but is concealed by new paint. The tank contains two big dents, but tank works fine. Spare tank is almost perfect, but has some rust in it. Bike has no side fairings. The bike runs strong and needs nothing.
Maintanence/Mods:
· oil and oil filter changed every 1500-3000 miles
· oil and oil filter just changed
· sprocket and (RK) chain changed <1000 miles ago
· chain lubed every 500 miles or less, depending on weather
· CBR F2 adjustable brake lever and reservoir added
· Custom frame sliders
· Yoshimura slip-on
· K&N air filter
· K&N oil filter
· Fairly new Bridgestone BT45 tires – lasts at least 10K miles
· Front tire has about 2-3k miles while rear tire has less than 1k
· Right fork oil seal recently replaced <500 miles
· Dropped one tooth on front sprocket
· Just replaced clutch/stator gasket
· Lockhart-Phillips Qualifier mirrors
· Low beams do not stay on, but you can buy a new bulb $10 + tax if you want
· Helmet lock doesn’t work
· High beams work and are dim enough for night time riding and bright enough for day time riding
· Rashed lower fairings are available, but will cost an extra $100 if you want them
Other info: Third owner. I do not know whether it is a CA model or 49 state model. Registered until Oct 2004.
Issues: Radiator Fan doesn’t come on, so bike runs a bit hot. I should have this issue resolved by the time it is sold.
The pitch: Please note that this is the 1989 model, which has 8-10 extra hp than the 86-88 models even though they look the same. The Hurricane is a great, do-it-all bike. I’ve been to track days, canyons, and mostly commuting on this bike. It’s a comfortable bike and the riding position isn’t as aggressive as the newer 600s. However, it’ll still do the quarter mile under 12 and reach 140 mph in top gear. The engine is in great condition. I have pictures of the internals taken when I replaced the clutch/stator gasket. I’ve seen newer engines that weren’t as clean. This was a great first bike for me and I wish I could keep it, but I plan on getting something sportier. For experienced riders, this is reliable bike that can you can still use to pass newer sportbikes while still getting 45 mpg. I’m taking all reasonable offers – the worst I can say is ‘no.’ Need to sell quick! Feel free to ask me any questions.
