If anyone has firearms and want to go shooting, let me know. Let's try to hook up and hit up a shooting range or the desert out on the east sometime.

If there are any of you that want to try shooting, let me know too. Perhaps I can work a schedule to take a few people at a time shooting.

Hey Jae, just wondering, why not a shooting range? There's a shooting range on Convoy near Mossy Nissan!

Sounds like fun, haven't shot outdoors since I've been here. I have some firearms that I can share if anyone wants to go and tag along. Glock 9mm, Russian SKS, and a Winchester shotgun.

I'll be occupied for the next 3 weekends, but let me know if anyone has time during a weekday, may be around 4:30-5pm (Am.Sh.Ctr. closes at 7pm). I can take you shooting anytime on weekdays. For those of you that are not available on weekdays, I'll set up a time to go with you guys on a schedule-free weekend. Just let me know, or anyone else that has firearms and some knowledge/training.

I have an sks that I haven't shot yet. I have had it for over a year now and still haven't had a chance to shoot it. I would like someone to look through it with me and make sure it is safe. I am free during the week.

I wish I was 21 right now. I don't get it. We can own rifles from 18 on up but we can't own a pistol? Kind of like our boys can drop bombs and kill hundreds of people but they can't write the f word on their airplane because it's obscene.

I'll let you know sometime soon. When you think you'll be shipping out? I'm guessing you don't have orders to go yet. Let me know what your schedule looks like during weekdays. Probably best to try to hit up the range around 4:30-5pm.

That would be awesome. I think it is one of the early chinese ones. None of the metal is stamped. It is all forged and all the numbers match, but the reciever cover. I got it for free sooo, not to bad I think.

Sorry guys,

I had to go shoot on Sunday to take a break from prepping for my last set of midterms as an undergrad student, and it was such a last minute, that I only called up Bryant and went to shoot at American Shooting Center.

This was after taking a look at some firearms at Turner's, so it's always good to let out that excitement from looking at firearms.

Also, I found out that there is a shotgun-only skeet/trap shooting range right next to Miramar. Trap/skeet shooting is the most fun thing ever, since you're shooting at a moving(flying) target. So those of you with shotguns, gear up and get ready! :rifle:

Got only two pics for you:

1. BK shooting down range.

11A-ABN
02-09-2004, 08:14 PM
2. BK and the target, after a few rounds down range with an HK USP 9mm, at 20 yards i believe this was. You can see the nice tight group in the center mass. And I tell you, it's not easy to be that accurate. He also shot a very tight group at 25 yards too. And he hasn't even been shooting for too long. Natural talent?:rifle: (btw, I love this rifle firing smiley)

Those other holes on the margins are result of 1st timers and guys that never learn.:-p

Well I live in downtown S.D. I am not sure where you live. I am free during the day anytime this week. I still need to get ammo for it, I can't remember what it shoots. Like I said I haven't shot it yet. Hell I am not even sure where I should buy my ammo down here in S.D.

Every apprentice has a master to teach them. You are a most excellent teacher! Thanks dude! Next time I will bring my camera as well and we'll do some interesting time-delay shots. ;p

Also, thanks for letting me borrow your jacket heheh... otherwise, I think my little "grouping" there may have been a bit larger shivering from the frigid A/C running on afterburner speed!

-----Edit----- :American Shooting Center(indoors) does not allow any Steel cased ammo (including Wolf, Silver Bear, and pretty much all Russian made ammo). So you probably have to pay lil more money and buy the brass cased ammo to shoot indoors.

Hey Jig,

The SKS shoots a 7.62x39mm round. While you can buy cases of 20 rounds at any local gun stores, etc., best thing to do is buy a pack of 1000 rounds for cheaper than dirt at gun shows. Online ammo dealers have outrageously good prices too, but because of the heavy weight, usually shipping cost goes up. There's a gun show coming to Del Mar late April, and one in late March at Costa Mesa fairgrounds next to Irvine.

As for ammo, most to all ranges won't allow Wolf ammo, but I don't think they prohibit Silver Bear ammo, which, like Wolf, is made in Russia, but better quality and still just as cheap, and I've been hearing very good things about them in relation to their cheap price.

I have not been to the shotgun range, but I'll go check it out on Wednesday(tomorrow) and see how they run things. From what I see on their website, they are closed Mondays and Tuesdays, and they have night shooting til 9pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, which should be pretty fun.

If anyone (Arnold? C-jam? Bk?) wants/have time to go shooting on Wednesday(tomorrow) or Thursday afternoon around 4-5pm, let me know here. I plan on going one of those two days, or may be both. Going to American shooting Center. If you want to just use my gun(pretty big), you can bring ~ $9. If you want to rent other firearms from the range, then you should bring about $20 more (which includes $10 for rental, and about another $10 for the 50-round-bag you are required to buy from them with the rental). This is exactly why shooting becomes a lot cheaper if you have your own gun & ammo. Active duty and law enforecement personnel get $6 off at American Shooting center (they charge $12 for the 1st person, and $6 for each subsequent shooter in the same lane, & up to 5 people max per lane).

For guys that have never shot, it's a good idea to look at a gun and check out the mechanisms/safety/operation/etc features before heading out to the range. You can do that at the range, but there are usually a lot of people shooting around 5pm, and it gets pretty loud indoors. Let me know.

Dudes,

Checked out the San Diego Shotgun Sports (www.sandiegoshotgunsports.com) today. It is badass~. I didn't shoot, as I was not sure with the rules, but if there're anyone out there with shotguns with at least a modified choke, you should come with me to go test the place out. Let me know.
7-1/2 shot only, no 8 shots. Rules are pretty simple and easy to understand (just say pull, aim, and shoot ).

San Diego Shotgun Sports (www.sandiegoshotgunsports.com) is a cool place. Pretty nice people there, decently organized and a variety of clay target sports available. Plus, it's pretty cheap (not including the cost of your own ammo, which isn't much). $5 range day-use fee and $5 per "round" (25 targets).

I go every now and then and have always enjoyed myself there.

It'd be fun to get some of us together for some indoor range, only bummer is that the cost of rounds add up quickly! :D

Not at San Diego Shotgun Sports. I'm not sure which indoor ranges will allow rifles like a SKS, etc. You might need to go to an outdoor range (isn't there one in Pala?) or the desert.
