View Full Version : Yes, I've Decided to Sell My 749

As some of you who frequent other forums or craigslist already know, I've decided to go ahead and sell my bike. I'm definitely interested in getting a used bike that I'd be more at ease with on the track, but that search hasn't gone too well. Not that the 749 doesn't do well on the track, but the thought of laying her down was too much of a distraction as opposed to something used. It handles extremely well, nonetheless, and has ample power to make it very fun on the track and the street.
Most of you already know what it looks like and what I've done to it. CF parts here and there and Michelin Power Race tires (soft/medium) with probably less than 300-400 miles on them. As with craigslist and another forum, I will ask $10K for her, but I will consider other reasonable offers from my HC fam (something I didn't post elsewhere). James (Cyanide41), I said reasonable...not free. Sean, your opinion on the price is duly noted.
PM me for pics or more details if you're interested. I'm sorry I didn't post here sooner. I've gotten 3 inquiries on her already, so if you're interested, let me know. Someone who lacked a lot of maturity was screwing around with my craigslist ad today, but that wasn't part of the inquiries I was talking about. Thanks.

wow! im very surprised your selling it rich, just like someone else said, i dont see you on any other bike!? hah good luck on selling it, and im pretty sure marvin will want your CF parts!
Good luck! I would really look into a r6 for a track bike. There is not a more competitive bike for racing(600cc) out there!

I know, I know...I belong on an old person's bike, but I don't think I can touch the ground on a Goldwing.

well good luck on the sale...
if you want to stay in the family, I've seen quite a few track 748s around for not that much money. Usually around 5-6 thousand.
if you're switching to inline... you can't go wrong with any of the 600s, but the R6 is the most popular for a reason.
the 748's may not be as competitive as the inlines, but they are very confidence inspiring and has lots of potential with the right rider!

I did look at getting a 748 as a track bike, but I thought that the inline 4 japanese bike would be cheaper to upgrade, replace parts as necessary in case I eat it, along with having more play in the RPMs despite not having the torque of a vtwin.
Lee...it's not a sad occasion really. If it doesn't sell, then I'll keep her for sure...no big deal. It was just an opportune moment to try considering my situation. If it does sell, who's to say I won't get something else...maybe even better. Remember grasshopper, the glass is half full.

sometimes you can find next to new bikes that someone is just scared of...laid down... Look in WA state during the winter time ( 9 months out of the year ) you can also find good deals that way. Sometimes it's worth the drive. Plus...from Shasta to WA the drive is BEAUTIFUL!
As for the R6...yeh...good bike...but It's the rider that wins. Not the bike :lift:
