Whats up everyone, check this out, I have been using this chain lube that I got at cycle gear, its that white coat stuff that is suppose to not fly of. I put it on after a ride, leave the bike over night and still the lube get all over my bike, which by the way is a pain to get of, anyone know of some good stuff that does not leave a mess after. Thanks

How often are you lubing your chain?

After each ride, I use wd40 to first clean the chain while not damaging the rings, then use Maxima Chain Wax. It leaves the chain gold and has minimum fly off.

Well I put it on every 300-500 miles depends on how much I push the bike. I will also try that Maxim stuff. Thanks

I use the same stuff, but no matter how long I wait for the lube to harden, it still leaves alot of junk underneath my bike. I guess I notice it more because I have that exhaust can on the left side to catch more crap.

I like the Honda HP Chain Lube as well.... a fan of the teflon very very minimal "fly off".... I was using Bel Rey and it has somethign in it that just causes the lub to build up really bad... and if you touch your chain with one of thos eshop rags you are litterally pull gunk off of your chain that is thicker than peanut butter.... the teflon works wonders

I know the Chain lube you're talk'n about. That ****e Sucks A$$. I asked around when i got my new chain and sprocket and was told that pretty much, all chain lubes fly off and make a mess.

used, and don't care for maxima chain wax.

PJ1 is the brand I use and like most.

I use a brush also for cleaning along with wd40

naw no kerosene, but that works great! so does gasoline.

well it just didn't last long, it had to apply it all the time, where as the other brands ive used seemed to last longer. oh and I had to clean my chain more often with it for some reason. Im sure it works well enough, i just found other brands to work better for me. PJ1 seems to be one of the best I have tried.

I also read that gasoline is a big NO-NO for your chain.

I used WD40 and it work just as good if not better. Tried PJ1 and that thing flies more than Maxima. Maxima does fling on you bling as bad, but I've yet to see a chain lube that doesn't! .02

Yeah! Maxima Chain Wax! It holds really good and has minimal fly off when

1) the chain is clean before applying
2)and the chain is hot

I've been using WD-40 for cleaning and Motorex chain lube (from Cycle Gear). I've noticed that it seems to adhere to the chain pretty well and not fling too much (if at all).

The Motorex stuff from Cycle Gear isn't that bad. Yes, like most chain lubes, it'll fling off and since it has adhesive properties stick to everything. Maxima Chain Wax will do the same, depending on your application method...

Anyway, I've been using the Motorex chain lube for the last couple of months. Three things that I do to minimize fling:
Clean chain completely.
Ride to get the chain hot
Apply the chain lube immediately, while the chain is hot and try not to put too much on.
Been working for me just fine... ;)

Is it okay to ride without any lube on the chain to get it hot?

Just for a short period before lubing it...It shouldn't hurt anything.
