well on my way to work, which happens to be at 3:30 in the afternoon, there is always a ton of traffic and i have to lanesplit alot. well i very regularly see large cruisers that are too big to lane split just go blazing down the shoulder like it aint no thang. i was always under the impression that you couldnt do that and it always bugged me. just cause you bought a fat ass pig of a bike doesnt give you the right to blaze down the shoulder. well today on wy way down the nobel to 805 south on ramp i noticed a bike cop just sitting at teh bottom at the carpool lane waiting to nail people that were violating the carpool law. so i sneak into the cars cause i cant find it in me to lane split up to a cop and wait for the light. well guess who come blazing down the shoulder, a big fat cruiser and guess who is standing at the bottom of the ramp on the shoulder....a CHP. so he got ticketed and i was happy cause i see that all the time and it bugs me that they do that. ok that was really long....you may now return back to your regularly schedualed life:cool:

There was a guy at my old job who had one of those, think he was at least 60, they look really comfy.

I know you can not drive on the shoulder, I got one :(. I was trying to bypass a couple cars on the Clairemont Mesa Blvd exit off of the 15 South, making a right. There were 3 police cars waiting for anyone driving on the shoulder. They already had 3 cars there waiting for their write-ups and then got me.

ummmm yeah I almost always did that getting on Five South off of Genessee.... so I am guessing you can't lane share on exit and off ramps?... these things are just a cluster of people... and that huge shoulder is so tempting for the whole 100 ft I need to use it

you can lane split anywhere. I do it on exit/entry ramps, stop signs, red lights, down the freeway, city streets, carpool lane, and I have done nearly all of them in front of a cop at one time or another. I'm glad that guy got busted, I hate more than anything how people do that. I see it all the time, but never see a cop, but god knows that as soon as i do anything the cops come out of no where...

just for clarification...lane splitting is never legal... you can lane share. (you cannot ride on the line, it's called excessive lane change)
Thank you Officer Shichyea

thats what I meant officer. when I typed lane splitting that meant splitting a lane. not splitting lane(s) pl. ;)
