Hey everyone...

I posted in that one new person thread but i'm a newb to riding in so many ways.

I had an aprilia rs50 for about 8 months, then I stepped up to a 600rr for a year, and then it got stolen in jan. I just picked up an 05 rr again and i'm looking forward to get back into riding.

I also just moved to La Jolla, and my bike is still in LA w/ my parents. Thinking about brining it down here next week.

Any advice on security steps I should take for an underground parking location. Types of lock that are considered decent (I know if they want it, they can do whatever they need) I'd rather just make it a bit harder.

Thanks for the input, hope to meet/ride w/ many of you.

welcome to the site.

as far as not getting jacked again.

1. invest in a heavy duty chain and lock your baby up to an immovable object such as a column or rail.
2. buy a cover. Out of site, out of mind.
3. don't announce your apt. complex on the internet.

good luck.

well...these are the steps i took and still use. i have an onguard chain, bike alarm, disc alarm and a kryptonite lock as well as a bike cover. lock your bike to a post that is grounded well and if you do have an alarm...set it as sensitive as possible but not to much as you will get many false alarms. lock your front tire to the post and if you have an extra cable/chain loop it on with the front wheel and frame.this has worked so far...but if they really really want your bike. they will get it somehow. well good luck.....or you can just post up in a bush somewhere and.............. :rifle: :slap: :hammer: :bombfeed:  but dont listen to me hahahahaha

Welcome aboard, it doesn't really matter what part of SD you are from, all bikes are vulnerable. If you don't have a garage, make it as difficult as you can for the thieves. :)

I like some of the ideas about security..never thought about the cover..very true though, out of sight and out of mind.

and nah I don't live at archstone and yea I won't announce where I live.

Welcome to Hypercycles.

Bike nights are listed in "Club Rides and Events" There's a Stickey at the top of the page with maps to get to the spots.........In case you haven't already been to that section of the forum.

I'll check that out. thanks for the warm response, and whoever said park your bike in your living room, I've actually done that in the past.

I went to vegas for the weekend and couldn't imagine leaving my baby outside so I rolled her in. My buddies thought I was nuts, but I had a bike when I got back.

Nah I sold it when I got the RR. It was a two stroke and had a top speed no higher than 60mph. I rode that thing everywhere. Two years back, I took that RS50 from LA to Long Beach (all surface streets) with my chick on the back, we topped out at around 50, we were going to the bike show.

Probably not the smartest thing but it was fun.
