I just got a quick glimpse of a news story on KUSI news, there was a fatal motorcycle accident in national city, involving a black dodge ram on euclid and 14th st. I couldnt make out what kind of bike it was, cause it was pretty messed up. Anyone have any info on the accident. CONDOLENCES go out to this mans family. Rest In Peace.

Same thing here Allan. I knew the guy and his girl. Used to ride with that group a lot awhile back. It really hits home when it's someone you know. Makes me think twice about riding street and just riding track. Rip.. :(

He and his girlfriend were on their way to get gas on his bike. They were the last one out of the pack of riders and on his way to the gas station, a guy in a RAM pick up truck was driving on the opposite side trying to make a left turn and turned right in front of Rom. It was too late for Rom to stop and he ran into the truck on the right side of it and sent Trish flying over the truck. He got up, looked at his girl, and then collapsed. He died right there from internal bleeding..

Its just not right. I actually passed the site today with my nephew in the car. As I passed it, it reminded me of my family and I mourning at my brothers accident site. I didn't even know what happened. It just triggered that same emotion. Then i come home and read this only to find out that it was someone I knew. Some who I remember sympathizing with me about my brother's accident. He was a good guy and I got nothing but good vibes from him. This irony is so so heartbreaking for me. i just visited my brother's grave for the one year anniversary of his accident, bring his son back to Cali with us for vacation and we both see this scene on the side of the road. The healing process is going to take that much longer. Were losing all the good ones.
I hope my brother greets him in heaven, I think they would get along.
May he rest in peace.

Lets just pray for his family and girlfriend, they need our blessing and the hopes that they will one day find closure in this.

for me, i'm still hoping for that day to come.

I knew him too...way back when we used to live in Linda Vista. We're having a bike night at the site on thursday. If you'd like to stop by you're more than welcome. We're also collecting donations for the family. If you feel moved to give it will be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

guys what do you think about this idea. I've been pondering it for a while now. We'd have to wait till we got more info on the services and everything but my thought was for someone to get shirts made in his honor (of course we'd pay u back for them) then have every1 meet up some where, put the shirts on on the jackets and try to get the largest group possible to mob up to his services. to have a group memorial ride in his honor. also i think the fam would really like seeing all of the support we have for him and his family. depending on where the service and actual burial site is i think it would be cool to have as many bikes as possible escorting rommel from one place to the other. just my 2 cents. pls respond and let me know how everyone feels about this

Not sure if family would react positively to seeing guys on bikes after their son was killed on one. It would be cool for Rommel, but you have to keep in mind the possibility that the family attributes the loss of their son to motorcycles. If this does happen, get the family's buy off first to make sure. T-shirts would take too long to organize and distribute. Now you have 4 cents.

+1, oh and I was just talking to Liza Amor and she said that the family is cool with everybody riding on friday to the funeral because bikes are something that rommel loved.
quote from a belletin that Liza Amor put up on Myspace:

The Reyes family is okay with the homies riding to the funeral on Friday. They said that it was something that Rommel LOVED to do so all the homies will be riding on Friday. If you want the sticker decal on your windscreen, let me know so that I can get them to you by tomorrow (the viewing).

We will also have a Sunday ride in dedication of Rommel and then a bbq. I will give you more info on that as soon as I get it. Thanks everyone...
