Since Willow is a no go for Aug, there's a 75% chance I might do Thunder Hill the following Sunday of SOW 9/2 trackday. The plan I have is to do SOW Friday Sept 2nd, then trek up north to the other Willow-Thunder Hill and ride that on Sunday. The B+ group is sold and spot are filling up fast. Who else is down to trek up north?!?
**Hotels and directions**
Thunderhill Park
Location:
In Willows, about 190 miles north of San Jose. 530-934-5588
Lodging:
Recommendation:
- Best Western (aka, Golden Pheasant). Off I-5 at hwy 162 in Willows, 7 miles from the track. Exit I-5 at hwy 162. Go east at exit ramp, take immediate right onto Humboldt Ave. 530-934-4603 ("O" will get a live person). For a 20% discount, mention "Keigwins@theTrack." (discounted room rates: $55/single, $60/double)
- AmeriHost. Next door to the Best Western, across from McDonald's (see directions above). 530-934-9700. For a $14 discount, mention "Keigwins@theTrack." ($79 doubles for $65, $89 king beds for $75)
-The Best Western is one story with room access from outdoors (so no stairs and easy access for hauling stuff you don't want to leave exposed on your truck). It has two outdoor pools. The AmeriHost is newer with nicer, though smaller, rooms. Access to your room is through a hallway. It has two stories so there may be stairs to navigate. It has an indoor pool and hot tub. Both motels offer continental breakfasts, and are next door to Casa Ramos, a decent Mexican restaurant with a separate, full service bar, open 7 days a week.
