For those of us who lost our chance for August 13th cancelled track day for BIG TRACK. Cali Speedway is another opportunity for us to enjoy a SATURDAY trackday. Yes, it's a little more pricey than Willow but it's much closer to San Diego (those who make the trek to Willow know what i mean on how far it is) You will get a chance to get a Indoor Garage complete with Electricity ~4 riders per garage. The track is well prepped and easy on tires. I am signed up for Level 2 and already have about 6 or more riders confirmed for this event. Just like how we the HC members prepared for Willow August 13th it would be nice to ride with people we know. Everyone i talked to who went to this track absolutely loves it, this will be my first time here. I'm sure you can get your refund back from Dustin and apply it to this event. Remember this is only 2 weeks away so register as fast as you can othewise you'll have to wait for Sept 2nd. Oh wait... That track day is SOLD OUT. Don't let this track day slip by. Hope you all can make it. ~Mike

This Motorcycle course is a 2.3 mile, 21-turn layout that utilizes part of the speedway's 2-mile oval from turn 4 to midway between turns 1 and 2.

There are 3 different Levels for this track:

Level 1 - Passing is Limited, Pace is Moderate, Flags & Lines
Fontana Track Times: 2:00+, Equiv. Big Track Willow 2:00+

Level 2 - Passing is Available in ALL TURNS (outside only), Pace is FAST, Perfect for Honin' your skills
Fontana Track Time: 1:50-2:00+, Equiv. Big Track Willow 1:41 - 1:59

Level 3 - Passing is UNLIMITED in ALL TURNS, Pace is Very FAST, Hot Laps, Set Ups
Fonta Track Time: 1:48 and below, Equiv. Big Track Willow 1:40 and below

New Rider's Note: For everyone's safety, anyone without track experience must take our Novice Riders School, and may advance to Level I upon approval. We may, at our discretion, waive this requirement if the rider can prove sufficient track experience. Novice Riders School will ride with level 1 at your own pace starting with follow the leader orientation laps with just you and the instructors before anyone else rides!

You should!!!!! Coming off the back straight (Nascar banking) into T1 is a flipping rush. It took me the better half of my first day there to get T1 down, but once I did I was flying through that section, not to mention the straight is long enough to pin your speedo and see what that 6RR has. I'm almost drooling just thinking about it.

are the schools that they have with fasttrack worth it? i hear you get one on one, or one on two coaching for the whole day?

GixxerDemon55
08-15-2005, 07:17 PM
Yes it is worth it...but it is kind of expensive. You normally get assigned 3 riders per instructor and they're first show you how to attack the corners and then they'll follow you.

cbrsmurf
08-15-2005, 09:03 PM
It's around $300-350 total right? For how much it costs, would you do that or a more expensive school like keith code or something?

hypersport
08-15-2005, 10:45 PM
Any type of advice from a coach/proffessional is totally worth it. They will teach you the basics and correct your bad habits, if any.. If this your first time on the track and you have the funds then i would recommend it. I've taken Keith Code Levels 1 & 2 money well spent!!! Either way, you'll have a good time.

They are beginning rider schools and so wouldn't do you a whole lot of good.

We are riding Big Track Willow on Friday and then heading towards California Speedway right after that. So we'll be there Friday night camping out hopefully inside of the track area. Just call me and we'll let you know where we'll be. If you are bringing your boys don't forget to bring Desi with you as well. Originally was supposed to be Aug 13th @ Big Track but that was cancelled. Already had this track day scheduled and Hope to see everyone out there Sept. 2nd @ SOW. And YES, I will be super tired on sunday but well worth it. It cures my itch since i don't ride the mean streets as i used to. Don't know who you are so try and look for the HyperSport stickers. Never been on Fontana before so you gotta show me the ropes... See you out there Kawboy!!!

Hey Guys,

Great seeing you and meeting you. I had a blast out there taking the pics and video. Hopefully I should have something compiled by the end of this week. Hee Hee I've put this in the front of my queue for video editing projects just because it's fun! Anyway, great seeing the experienced riders and the new riders have a good time out there. Makes me wanna get back out there and ride!

Hopefully I can join you guys the next time around!

The only reason why two people are on the track at that time was because our friend was right behind him as seen in the first pic of him sliding and was able to stop and help him with the bike, no matter how dangerous it was because it was in an impact zone, it was a great friendly gesture.

Good for your friend to stop and help but a total rookie move on his behalf. I dunno how many times track instructors emphasize, "IF YOUR BUDDY GOES DOWN. . . DO NOT STOP OR HELP HIM". If the bike goes down, don't try to pick it up, the damage is already done. Get out of the impact zone and wait for the truck to pick it up.

I agree, but in their defense, this was BOTH of their first time out there on that track and first instinct for him was to stop and help a fallen friend out. Unfortunately it does no good to flame anyone about it since it's over and done with and all that really matters is that neither one of the two got seriously injured as a result of his actions. Actually the bike recovery truck and safety truck did thank him for helping him get out of the impact zone.

I totally agree that it wasn't safe, but all in all the outcome was ok

I'm not knocking anyone Mike, you're the Pro Racer with all the toys! :ha: I'm just a slow :squid: that goes fast on the straights and grabs a fist full of brake for the turns! :D

Hey you said it, not me! :squid: :squid: I just remember when we were at Willow back in May/05 Dustin and crew had to red flag a couple sessions just b/c someone tried to pick up his bike which wasn't near the race line but somewhat still on the pavement. It could of been yellow flagged but since the dude was on the track it was a risk.

Ok guys,

Mike, Gerald, Brian, and also the guys from the R1 Forum I put this post here so that you guys on this forum will be able to see it. I put together an 8minute video/slideshow of you guys and the R1 forum guys on track day. I did it in 4 nights so don't flame me too much for the quality. I do have a high quality 350MB version, so pm me and I'll send you the link so you can download it. Do me favor and download this file and save as instead of trying to stream it. Because it's an mpg file and not wmv it will not buffer and also to save bandwidth.

Commentary on the end:

Brian (the Red Gixxer) and Shawn (a guy from the R1 forum on the Raven R1) both had spills as seen in the video and pics from the prior posts. Fortunately Brian and Shawn did not end up like the guy on the RC51 which I have no idea who that was, but it took about 20minutes for them to clean up that mess.

Back to the point, from what I was told, Bryan fell so hard (from a highside) that the contact with the pavement and speed at which he carried caused the leather to rub through his underwear and give him a light rash on his butt cheek. Thankfully his leathers held up and didn't actually burn through. I wouldn't even want to imagine what that would've looked like had it done so.

Anyhow everyone was safe and I thought for some fun that would be the ending shot....ha ha get it? Ending????

:ha:
