Well I found a 2000 GSXR600 w/ 7000 miles on cycletrader for $4400 and it looks like we'll be buying it today. That's the best deal I've found so far except for one in Phoenix for $4000 (it was blue and black) but they wont hold it for us till we get out there next weekend. I called Geico to price the insurance on it and for some reason the insurance is quite a bit cheaper on it then on Jeff's '89 CBR, they quoted us $1200 for the CBR and $600 on the GSXR, full coverage on both. This is quite a bit bigger than I thought I wanted but Nick sort of sold me on the GSXRs. Taking it to Lee's to get the full service, get it lowered and put on frame sliders, probably going to cost us a pretty penny but think it'll be worth it. Next thing will be getting some graphics on it so that it doesnt look like everyone else's yellow&black bikes, and of course to get it to match my new leathers. =)

I found a nice Frank Thomas 2 piece leathers at CycleGear yesterday, think we paid about $250 out the door since it was on sale and got the extra 10% discount, they were originally marked over $700. They look and fit good but arent exactly going to match my bike since they're bright orange, blue, silver and black. Nick got a set there too, think it ended up being around $375? They we're normally over $500 but gave us a 25% off coupon.

Wow, nice deal. I'm surprised the insurance makes you pay more for my bike than a 2k gsxr! G'luck!

Hoping that she didnt make the mistake of putting it in as a standard bike instead of sport bike, they did that with Nick's bike last year but then didnt reclassify it until the policy renewed and our rates went up about $200.

Well I rode my bike for the first time tonight w/ my new leathers on, I can actually touch pretty well just cant flat foot it and pushing it up any kind of incline would be next to impossible. When I called Lee's they said that it would be like $200 to get it lowered but I'm wondering now If I should or not.

It all depends on how worried you are about dropping it?

I wouldn't...I talked to a girl that got that done on her F4i from Lee's and she talked to jeremy and told him that the bike felt funky...him aand mike? took a look and found out that it totally messed up the geometry so he switched it back and said that it was a big mistake....thats what I heard

I was thinking the same thing too!?! Lowering the rear but keeping the front the same?!?! Plus $200 to lower it! :holymoly: Someone correct me if I'm wrong but to lower the rear, isn't only a couple of washer like things in the suspension link?!?
E-liz, if you are having a problem reaching the ground, why not try chopping the seat like what Ed (Sentinel) did?
Eliz, I guess you will get used to the height thing the more you ride. I cant flat foot cbr either, so I take it slow when I am backing it up and all, but then most of the time you are riding the bike and it doesnt even matter whether you are flatfooting or not. Just make sure you do all the slow maneuvers in parking lot that way you can easily do the u-turns and stuff without getting your foot down. I am so gonna work on my u-turns soon too. $200 for lowering!!!! why the hell are things so expensive?? I just spent 80$ to get the tires changed at Alba's too

I was thinking about that but the seat is already pretty small, dont want it to be uncomfortable. The link that they use is only $55 but they charge like $150 in labor since they're going to be lowering both the front and back end. I may go ahead and put off lowering and see how I do without, but first thing I'm going to be putting those sliders on and getting the fulls service. Ran into the same thing though that the full service is gonna run about $350. The guy that I bought it from said that the last time it got serviced was about a year ago and 2000 miles but sounded like he just changed the oil himself and didnt check much.

Not bad, I guess they're gonna charge you like 50 bucks for labor. If you want to save that cash you can easily put em on yourself. I was very skeptical on doing it on my own, but now that I did it was piece o'cake. I would be more than happy to help if you'd like or you can just say screw it and have them do it. my .02
