Anyone know of a good place around the San Diego area to try on/purchase a set of 1 piece leathers. I went to HOM and was surprised by there limited selection. They only had a couple pairs of Alpinestars that were no were near my size and a couple Joe Rockets that actually fit me but were 2 piece. I am 6'3 and 195 lbs. I had no luck at Cycle Gear either as all of their suits seemed to be made for much shorter riders. I have pretty much decided on AlpineStars, but would like to make sure I get a pair that fits. Might make the trip to Chapparal if they have a bigger selection.

Welcome aboard :)! I really don't know of any places in San Diego that have a large selection of one-piece leathers. Have you thought about getting custom leathers? You are pretty tall and it does seem that a suit that will fit your height will be pretty baggy.

Thanks, and I am looking forward to joining you guys for a ride in the near future.
I am trying to keep it around the 600 dollar price range, so customs are a little out of my range for the time being.
Unfortunately, I will probably end up ordering online and just exchange if they don't fit.

I wear a 56 and it is pretty snug on me. I have an Alpinestars 1-piece and I am 5'10" and weigh about 200 now. Make sure you try it on.

Welcome to the club, you can introduce yourself right here (http://www.hypercycles.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43). If you aren't in a hurry to buy I know of a place where you can get great prices and selection but you would have to wait a couple weeks to order :errf:

I figure I am either 58 or 60 Euro, probably 60 though. I tried the Frank Thomas 58 Euro and couldnt even come close to getting that thing over my shoulder though.
CRJam, A couple weeks is about the time I was looking to purchase if you have the hookup, just trying to get the right size now.

Well, i have a size 48 HJC full suit. Not exaclty a name brand (as far as leathers go), but it is still good quality...i lowsided at about 35-40 and it held up well. It is a little short in the arms and legs, but you aren't going to get an 'off the hanger' suit that fits a tall guy well. I'm 6'5" about 195. Short in the legs isn't a problem because your boots cover them, the arms are a bit shorter than i like, but what are you going to do...my wrists sometimes show skin when fully extended, but shouldn't affect protection.
Also, when i stand up in it it feels like an atomic wedgie and the boys hate me for it  , but in a riding position it is very comfortable. You are welcome to try mine out if you like. PM me

How aobut that Frank Thomas suit? Is it any good quality wise?
I went to Cycle Gear today and checked out a Frank Thomas jacket/pant combo for like 600 bucks, but will it save my rear?

I'm looking for a solid 2-piece suit, or just separate jacket and pant, that is crash-tested and mother approved.

Forget fit, but in terms of quality how do you guys rank the manufs out there? I know of Dainese, Teknic, A-star, Spidi, and Frank Thomas? I heard Joe Rocket sucks for suits.

So who makes the better suits out there, price not being an issue?

And what do you wear under leathers? jeans? shorts? boxers and a tank?

Thanks

i am 6'2" 195 and wear a frank thomas 1 piece think it is size 46 or 48 fits great but a little tough to get into and i dont really like the way they velcro the armor in - when you put it on the armor likes to come out - other than that i think its a great suit and it only cost me like 275 (lots of specials going on a cyclegear that day)

You could try treking up to Cyclemall.net up in Irvine. I know I when I went there, they had Spidi, RS Taichi, and Dainese in stock. I'm 6'1 200lbs and my 44 Teknic suit is starting to run a little too tight!

P.S-You may also want to check North County Hypersport on Oceanside Blvd and El Camino Real. They have a huge stock of Dainese, Alpinestars, GP Tech's favorite- Ku****tani in stock! Be sure to check out the Dainese Rossi replica suit too!
