View Full Version : Pre-BBQ Medium-Paced Morning Ride 8/28/05

I figured since I was down for the weekend anyway, I thought I'd see if anyone was interested in riding out the morning of the BBQ. Maybe this will encourage even more people to come out to the BBQ after and meet all the Hypercyclers. I know a lot of people will be going out to SOW on 9/2 (sadly I won't be able to make it but I'll probably see some of you at Fontana on 8/20 ), so I don't expect a big turnout ride-wise since most will probably prep their bike that weekend.
It'll probably be a pretty medium paced ride so that we don't get any tickets or have any accidents before the BBQ. Post up if you're interested.

Bengt and Ryan...I knew I could count on you guys.
Any time that Sunday morning would be good. Unlike last time, I'll already be in San Diego by Friday so I'm up to meet up anywhere. Let's shoot for an early morning ride again. That last ride through Portero was fun, so maybe we meet down at Tele again if you fellas are up for it. You know me, I'm up for anything. I just wanna ride.

That's what I was gonna ask him which island he's staying at. If we stay on the same island we can probably rent some scooters and hit the mountains. :ha:

LOL, I used to ride those scooters when I lived there...they can be dangerous :guitar:
Sadly, I'm going to be on business travel to Honolulu, hopefully with a little R&R on the side.
Rich, the route sounds good to me. Lets get on the road before the SoCal Group leaves at 9. :squid:

Just bumping this to see if anyone wants to ride out this Sunday morning. Bengt won't be able to make it, but if anyone else is interested in riding out, post up and let me know. Planning on keeping it chill. Ryan, hope you're still down. Allan, get your bike and let's ride.

You know I ride with that group almost every Sunday and I can tell you that there are no squids in that group. The squids you see down there at that time are not part of the same group. They are a bunch of guys who just ride there all the time. I don't think they are part of any online group. There are really only two of them that I don't feel comfortable riding with.
On that note: I agree that we should leave early so I can get home peel off the leather, clean up and head over to buymoto. I will see you guys sunday morning.

I'm sorry, what'd you say Clover? Mr. cloverleaf that is. :ha:
Eh I'm just bummed cuz I suck at being a squid. Yeah the whole canyon carver/racer thing didn't work so I thought I'd try my hand at being a squid and I'm even worse at that. Guess I'll just cruise and pose at bike nights from now on.

Well, it looks like there won't be any down south guys joining us, so maybe we can meetup at Mira Mesa and go from there. If Allan comes and joins us though, we can meet at Mira Mesa first and then cruise down to Tele to pick the boy up. Let's make it early fellas before it gets too hot. Bill, come and join us so Ryan will have an inline 4 to play with.

Well, it looks like me, Ryan, James, Allan, and Arnold on this morning ride. For those up north, we'll meet at the Bike night location at Westview before 8 a.m. and leave for Telegraph at 8 SHARP. Upon arrival to Telegraph, the expected departure time there should be on or shortly after 8:30 a.m. Then again, if Allan's late, we'll wait cuz we know how he likes to drink 15 beers on the weekends. Anyone else (ahem Chuckie ahem) is welcome to come along.

Hey who here will be carying a passenger? I will probably be, so I don't wanna hold anybody up. If I go on this one will I be going with the wrong group of people?

08-25-2005, 08:52 PM
I can ususally get through telegraph with a passenger at around a pace of 50-90 mph, depending on traffic, road conditions, etc. Im gonna go out on Friday too and scout things out, looking at the usual, gravel, construction etc. I learned the hard way...it really sucks to come around a turn and find things weren't the way you rememberd them a week ago.

The find the wrong group of people, go to http://socalridersmessageboard.com. J/K...well....
There's really only 3 criterias to meet when riding with us this Sunday:
Your passenger MUST be of the opposite sex.
She's gotta look better in leathers than Trinity did in the FIRST Matrix movie.
I can ride behind you...you know, to ensure your safety.
In all honesty, our pace should be pretty good especially since none of us will want to get a ticket before the BBQ. However, if our pace is beyond your capability, ride your ride and we'll always gladly wait up at some point to make sure we're all okay.

I'm down to ride with you guys. I have never gone with any of you, or any rec. ride for that matter. I live in scripps ranch, so anyone meeting here or in mira mesa I could meet up with. I have to work so I'm not going to that BBQ, but I would still love to go out in the morning...

I guess we'll have other riders coming along, so to make it clear, meet BEFORE 8 at Mira Mesa Bike Night location (Starbucks at Albertson's Parking lot), leave there AT 8 EXACTLY, and go directly to Telegraph Canyon Rd across the street from East Lake Bike Night location at the Mobile Station where we gas up, and GO. See you guys in the morning.

Great ride. Damn it is hot out there. Once I got on the 78 I could feel the fatigue kicking in. Then once I got in to Escondido I was BEAT!!! I thought I was about to die of heat stroke. Next time remind me to drink more water beforehand.

I didn't make it to BBQ cuz I not only felt BEAT, but I started cramping up. Maybe the beer I had when I got back was not a good idea. It was fun out there, but that's the last time I ride in that kind of weather. It's way too hard to concentrate in that kinda heat.

What's up with you and muscle cramping or was it your time of the month? Thought body builders knew their diet? BTW, thanks for calling me back about the midnight ride. sucka! You really should of came out, it was a "Medium Paced Midnight Bicycle Ride!" Not too hard or too fast, and it was a ride at your own pace and ride your own ride. It was a dope ride!

When I got home and jumped out of my leathers, I was already making plans to DRIVE there as the last thing I wanted to do was jump back on my bike. Plus, she was dirty. :squid:
I was going to try and go later on in the day, but the Geritol just wouldn't kick in.
