Ok people, for all the doubters here it is, official according to yamahas website! The are also keeping the current model R6 in the line-up so I cann't wait till they release the specs on this mofo!!!

Yeah dude I'm all over the (supposedly) sub-$8000 YZF-R6S (2004 R6). If I can get a brand new R6 from LA cyclesports for around $7000 OTD I'm going for it.

The new one looks like a 2000 R1 had sex with a 2005 600RR. More like a crack baby than a love child, though. I do like the exhaust though. :thumbsup:

I remember hearing somehwere that WERA rules state there has to be at least 1000 production bikes available for homologation which would preclude the R1LE (500) from being entered into the Superstock class. Pretty sure its the same for Superbike...

r6 is tyte, but dissapointed they didnt change the R1. They usually do it in a 2 year cycle. Ill be waiting for 07 R1. I also am thinking of a r6 for a track bike and this bike might be just it.

I remember reading the colin edwards didn't like the fly by wire on the Aprilia he rode in MotoGP, claimed that's what caused the highsides (whereas he never highsides on any of bikes he rode previously and after)

Were probablly looking at feb or march 2006. i have about 8 peole so far that are willing to put up deposit money, so if you want to get in on this let me know(post up here with color). We'll have everyone drop off deposits to the dealership when we find a price that we feel is good. Im hoping that by dealing in a large pre order that we can get our bikes fast, and at a fair price.

OK I'm goint to be the weasel on this and say... you know what... the tail lights and headlights do not compare to their previous models.

THe best tail of any bike... EVER was the 00-02 R6. The dual circular tail lights were the best.

The best headlight setup was late 90's Ducati 748... other than that The 2003-2005 R6.... now looking at the new one I was like WTF!? That's just not as slick. I like the body better... and the exhaust is delicious... thank you Yamaha for not jumping on the tail between the legs (aka undertail) exhaust. But the lighting system... :uhh:
