So, I got myself a track bike last Saturday.
It was a CMRA sprint race bike for a season and a half.
It has everything I ever wanted and need.
It's an '01 GSXR 600 with:
penske rear, suspension by raceworx, full yoshi system, vortex clip ons, woodcraft rearsets, nissin aftermarket master cylinder, 520 conversion, hot bodies plastics, NRC case covers, safety wires and so on.
The bike runs beautiful.
Just looks like crap.
I almost backed out cause it looked so bad (don't get fooled by photos. It's a very photogenic bike, just like me. I think 1/3 of the body's holding it together by duct tape. the previous owner got really creative with colored duct tape).
But when the previous owner started the bike, it sound like heaven...
I took her down from Temple, TX.
I think I drove total 500 miles that day(got lost twice and almost went over to Austin...)
I spent $122.00 just for gas.
September 5th was my first track day with Boo Boo(this was the word came into my head when I saw her for the first time).
Since it was Labor day, track was really crowed.
I think there were nearly 200 riders at the track.
I've never seen that many riders for a track day before.
Of course the day followed by lots of crashes(3 instructor got in some of those. one of the instructor got T-boned by a dumbie who was in intermediate group).
I was really careful with my bike.
It was my first time to ride her and also it's been 10 years since I rode my last inline four.
Not to mention it has at least extra 45+ hp, it was quite different.
But I have to tell you that the best thing to have on the track is good suspension and good race tire.
It really made the whole world difference.
The bike felt so smooth and stable on corners compare to my stock SV.
I wanted to go faster and lean deeper, but everytime I thought of that I pulled into hot pit and cooled off my head.
After all, it was our first day together.
Basically, I was working on how to ride Boo Boo all day.
I still need to work on gearing and RPM, but overall I feel good about the bike.
Actually, I had the most fun at the track that day.
I still need to work on the bike a little bit.
Need new suspension set up(now it's set up for 6'3" 210 lbs, there's at least 70 lbs difference) and maybe new map.
The bike's been running with race fuel.
Other than that, the bike runs great.
I probably would work on the body over the off season.
Next year, I'll be out with my not so boo boo bike.
I probably have at least one more track day left this year.
Can't wait to ride her again!
