Rolled to the track all late on Saturday morning.. Had it not been for Ryan #55's phone call, I would have probably still been in bed come late Saturday afternoon Unloaded the pile, and the pitbike.. we set up the pit.. I had pretty much smoked my tires from the day before, so I put on a different set to practice on.. I got in a few practice sessions, and got in the 29's pretty easily.. I still think its weird going that "fast" in practice because just a few months back I could only manage 31's in practice. Quig and I were going to race in SoloGTU as was our pit neighbor Ryan #55. The race starts, and somehow, even though I'd never raced in that series all year, I was gridded on the front row. I got a crappy start, made a couple of passes, and found my self all by myself in about 2 laps. I cruised at a steady 1:29 pace the entire race. For about 15 laps or so I was all by myself.... I started to slow down a bit because I felt my take-off tires crying out for help. The front tire would just sort of float through turns 8-9, and turn 2.. and the rear which was all greasy was losing grip as well.. After lap 12 I had looked back every lap coming out of two to make sure I didn't have to "turn it up" to get away from anyone.. I saw nobody there until lap 16 I could see my team mate Quig!!!.. ****, I guess I'll have to step it up, and lose this guy in turn 8-9 area.. Going down the hill for turn 5, the front wheel totally folds over.. The bike was gone is what I was thinking.. I could hear metal sparking on the ground as I grabbed a huge fist full of throttle.. The rear came around and then caught and snapped the bike upright as I rolled out of it for a bit.. Wholy crap that was the hugest save ever!! I collected myself up and was like WOOHOOO!!! I didn't crash.. I signalled, exited the track down hotpit lane to discuss with Ryan #55's mechanic, and make sure nothing was broken or leaking.. I went back out for a couple more laps, and finished the race.. The crash, but not crash thing was so violent it moved my left clipon inward!! Normally nobody see's this type of feat but apparently a bunch of people saw it becuase they kept coming to my pit going "Dude, you're the F*cking MAN!!!" or whatever... Afterwards we all went to Ramon's had had some double-shot margarita's, and some good food!
Sunday I got to the track semi-ontime and was able to go help out WSMC in tech inspection. I was signed up for my normal 3 races.. we put a brand new set of Dunlop's finest on for 600 ModProd, and I was gridded 5th.. I got my usual crappy launch and I ended up towards the back of the pack going into turn1. I did however get to watch nicky moore pingpong off everyone in 1, even getting his rear wheel into the dirt and still manage to run up front!! I passed a bunch of guys and ended up running a solid 7th place. I was gaining on 6th place Brandon Davies (who I usually destroy in my races) but just ran out of laps.. GOOD TIMES>
My next race was Formula 2. This start was fantastic.. Just kidding, I totally stalled the bike off the line.. it was like I gave everyone a 10 second head start before leaving the line!! I went into attack mode and was chasing down brandon Davies again.. Every lap I could see the gap between he and I shrink.. I was having a blast.. but I knew I was in dead last. With 2 laps to go, he threw a leg off and gave up for whatever reason.. What a buzz killer.. For the white- and checkered flag laps, I slowed way down into conserve bike and self mode.. No sense in risking the equipment.
Final race of the day was Trackdaz 650 Superbike.. I got another one of my super great starts and was towards the back of the pack and had to fight my way up.. I got sort blocked into 3 in the crazy traffic and just decided to settle in.. I saw my team mate Quig up ahead and I figured I'd just follow him for a while.. we weren't going all that fast or anything. Then the GotVideo? dude passed me and got into a nice dice with Quig. I hanged back a bit and just watched those two lap after lap swapping positions like crazy.. I had it all planned out for the last lap though as I knew I was capable of going way faster than either of them. I got really close to them in 8, and was setting them up for a last inside pass in turn 9. Just then, GotVideo? dude checks up on the throttle and Quig goes for the inside.. I was already on the deep inside, and had to checkup to avoid a not-so-good collision with my team mate.. So.. I in a sense I gave quig another victory over me.. but this time he actually earned it.. He's really coming along as a rider.. !

I'm debating with my good sense on racing next month. My 600 is for sale, and after what happened on Saturday, I'm not sure I should be racing this thing anymore. More to come later I'm sure.

Sounds like if you work on those starts you'd be kicking ass!
