Haven't been on a ride in awhile. Thought it might be fun to do a medium to cruise pace ride. But always ride at your own pace....we leave no one behind.
If you havent been on these roads this would be a great time to see them.
Meeting Place: Mira Mesa Shell (Mira Mesa Blvd. & Westview) Corner Across from Best Buy and next door to In N Out.
TIME: 8:30 GASED AND READY
ROUTE: Essentially Reverse Big Loop
Mira Mesa to Highland Valley Rd.

Please post up if you are in attendance and if you are bringing anyone along.
This ride is SQUID-FREE, no wheelies, stoppies or ANY other stunt that would jeapordize another member's safety. Please do that on your own time. There are no unsafe passes, and no EGOs...leave that shizzle at home...we are here to enjoy one another's company and to meet people and enjoy the ride. Staggered formation will be used on the straight and boring stuff and we will not speed. Tight stuff is single formation.

I am about newb as you can get, MSF and about 100 miles so far... prolly be around 300-400 mi or more by then (Oct 1st), only time I have been on those roads is in a car. If it looks like I am too slow or novice it's cool I will just wait till a slower group ride, a newb ride or get more experience :) :)

WOW, 100 miles, thats not even a tank ;)
You want to PM me and tell me how you are feeling with the controls of your bike closer towards the ride. If not maybe we can roll out on sunday for a short ride.
In any case, we dont really try and think about being too slow, thats where everybody started, so you gotta learn sometime....We just want to make sure that all the basics are integrated into your riding so you stay safe.

I know but gimme some credit I have only had the bike since Weds.
side note- for the first 600 miles or so you're going to want to vary the engine speed. So if your rolling down the freeway, for example, don't cruise the whole time at 70. Mix it up a little bit. And let your motor cool off all the way when you park it.

Correct.... the route is pretty much the same.... its just being reversed... Start up north end up down souf. since I'm closer to that south I'm liking this idea...Yeah you have to get up earlier but I'm closer to my house, my food, and my bed after the ride :)

If you guys meet up there, make sure you do not pick up any straglers....if you or they do not post up on this thread, you/they may be asked to leave. Sorry, but I want to make sure that we can accomodate the amount of riders who want to ride this day. Please PM me if you have any questions.
Isnt that a little far in for a meeting spot? Why not do it right off the freeway somewhere as someone suggested. If you need to make further arrangements PM eachother. I dont want to make this thread any longer than it needs to be. Some people will loose interest if it gets to long and wont read pertinent information regarding the ride itself.
Thanks for your understanding

Since the road through tele is questionable, and that I have to be at work at 12, I don't think I can do the full route. However, if there is anyone interested in going with everyone up to julian, and turning around with me and coming back, let me know.

ThreeSixT
10-01-2005, 04:23 PM
Diesel RV saw him coming from a distance up on Mt Laguna, we were only doing maybe 50, and this idiot gunned his 5,000 lb RV to make a left in front of Sean to try and beat him. Use your imagination after that....
Get well soon bro

i didnt see it happen.... but it turns out a van tried to beat him to a turn and cut right in his path. Sean ran into the back part of the van. EMT's said his right leg and right arm are fractured. all i know is he's @ Sharp hostiptal. don't know which one.
ThreeSixT
10-01-2005, 04:33 PM
Sharp off of 163 and Balboa, but pretty sure they won't be letting visitors see him, except for family and close friends. He was put on a Helo and lifted from the top of Sunrise/Mt Laguna to the hospital about an hour and a half ago

I was with Sean in the ambulance just before the helicopter lifted him out. I was talking to him and he was feeling better after a shot of pain medication. The only obvious injury was a compound fracture to his right femur and possible broken right arm. I went to the hospital right after he was lifted out and Nic and Bill were there and said he arrived and is being treated. I did not see the accident but it seems it was the guy in the vans fault for trying to beat the convoy of bikes to make a left turn and Sean hit the right rear of the van.

Speedy recovery Sean. This highlights the importance of what you were doing to begin with - organizing a group ride for our fellow riders. I, for one, appreciate your drive and dedication. Well sorry I had to cut it short. I appreciate all the kind words. It's just something that happened, couldnt avoid it and still shooting for Laguna.
The damage was a broken compound femur. Thank god for my leathers, or otherwise I think I'd be rocking the peg with kickstand. I tore the clipon off when it went through my leg. Got some juicy pics of my meat on the clipon but Ill spare ya. So I got a rod running the length of my femur, they put it in though my knee cap and locked it through thre other side by going through my hip.
They couldnt save my part of my leg, so got a sweet ass skin graft from (no not my butt) my left thigh. the part they couldnt save was 15 cm by 12 cm. Looks like a frankenleg cause I missing a little muscle.
Broken right radius(forearm) so I got a plate and 6 pins in there.
bruised lung and sprained left leg.
Noggin was untouched so Im pretty lucky.
I am really grateful not only for being able to keep my leg(which they discussed amputation) but mainly for all the people who visited my in the hospital. I really cant explain to you guys how much it meant and how it helped my recovery.
Shaggy, Mike D, deno, stroble, allan, chuck, bill, greg, Mikey, arnold, carol, Bengt, randy, barry, jared, jen, jae, bryant, lee, jenna, eileen, monte, becky, jeanette, karen, and most importantly Nic.
They threw away my cell phone so if people could please PM me their numbers I would be stoked.
If alvin and goundzero could also pm me I would appreciate it. I think they were the ones behind me and if you guys could call me that would really help.
