I have a PCIIIr. I got mine from Dan Kyle and it came pre-installed with the Sato Banzai map for my bike.
I think a PC is very good investment. Even a Power Commander on a stock bike can help, but smoothing out the throttle response, smoothing out the torque curves, etc... With a custom map, it only gets better.
Once I had my PCIIIr installed, I noticed the much smoother throttle response and the snatchiness was gone, meaning the on/off feeling I got when closing/opening the throttle was eliminated. I think Dynojet's website has a database of maps for different bikes with different combinations of exhaust systems.

I have only heard of postive comments about a Power Commander. You don't really have to mess with it once it is setup. It is easy to install and easy to uploads maps to.
