I was at MSF class this past weekend, and was told that CA classifies all aftermarket exhaust as illegal. Has anyone heard about this before? Since I was just about to buy a replacement slip on for my F4i, I wanted to clarify this before my investment. Thanks!

by law, yes. hell, if you do almost ANYTHING to vehicle here it's illegal. bikes don't fall under the C.A.R.B. laws as of yet but give it time. unless you get a crappy loud exhaust like a D&D you probably won't get pinched for it. Unless you ride like a tool and give them a reason to pull you

knowing your own rights is key to the limits of the police power

cops really dont have that much power, they are basically citizens that tattle tail on the
public; nothing more!

where their power comes into real play is when people "feel" they can do nothing, this
hands too much power over to the other side and leaves guys like us with shotty records

Wanderer: Yes, I fight every ticket I ever get because as an American I am entitled to do so. I am
26 now with a better driving record than my 55 yr old dad. I break the rules like everyone else, but
I know the loopholes

never heard of that.... if thats true you shouldnt be able to buy them unless your bike is trailered everywhere. there is a decibel limit though so dont get anything absurdly loud. ive never heard of anyone getting hassled for that either...

that is where the trick comes in my friends. If you do not know the laws, you will never
be able to see the loopholes. I had Texas pretty down pat, but CA I hear is the worst!

With increased population, comes increased restrictions

look up Montana, it's like the wild west out there!

The supposed limit is 95 db with the engine under no load (in neutral) measured 20 inches form the exhaust pipe outlet at 3k - 5k rpms

I dunno if I buy that but I thought I'd post it.

Hell If you stand behind my bike for more than a few minutes you will probably pass out. I more or less have straights with some glass packed cans. :ko:

I've heard that speeding, having no mirrors (hey, I bought ti that way and haven't ordered any yet), and having no plates are all illegal, too ;)

i could use some LAW loophole help soon. i got pinched early in the year, then went on deploymet( just got back). and while i was on deployment they suspended my license, raised the fine by roughly double($800) and threatened more.
the kicker is that i contacted the court house and told them that i wanted to fight the ticket, but i'd be on deplyment for 6 months. but they just ignored me and went on with the litagations. i kinda have it sorted out( have a court date), but i still have to figure something out, because i dont knw if all the stuff they added while i was gone is still valid. it shouldn't be because of the Sailors and Soldiers relief act( recently revamped by Pres Bush). We'll see
