What year R6 are you looking for. I know someone that could possibly put up his '04 R6 up for sale.

Ive owned a 99 and a 2001 and I can assure you they are the same bike. If you are considering an FZR I would advise against it, since for a little more money you can get an R6 which is such a better more versatile bike. The FZRs are cool and all, but they just arent worth it. In their defense, there was some dude on and FZR with a penske shock at buttonwillow last Thursday and he was spanking all the inexperienced riders. The fuel injected '03 o4s and 05s are really fun. Not that there is anything wrong with the first generation R6s, but the 2nd generations are such a better bike all around. THough, comming off that 250 of yours, I think you would have the time of your life on either.

As for mileage, I wouldnt worry about having more than 11k on the thing. As long as you buy it from someone who changed the oil regularly and wasnt trying to be the next star boy you should have no problems... If anything you may need a new clutch which you can do your self for under $120.

I may have a 04 R6 going for around $5k in a few weeks, Ill let you all know if Im selling it. -Martin

thanks for the info. i think i would like the second gen better because i love fuel injection. i was really into cars back at home and mine and all my buddies' cars had the fuel injection so i know the positives versus the carb. besides that i don't understand the carb set up really even though it is a very simple principle. in my experience injection is way more reliable than carb. but just my opinion. hit me up when the r6 is on the market.

personally i don't like the fuel injection on bikes, i've done quite a bit of ametur car racing and i know where you're coming from with the fuel injection over carburation, but as far as bikes go, the fuel injection especially the early models (pre 04 in general) are twitchy and have bad on off throttle transitions which will get you into quite a bit of trouble on a bike, and they're all tuned for crazy top end and have pretty crappy mid range which is what you use most of the time to scoot around town, and the midrange allows you to drive outa turns harder. That and carbs are very simple, and if anything every breaks you can fix them quite easily. The benefits are that fuel injection DOES make more top end power, but carbs are much easier to tune for more useable power, and i really recomend you go and ride both FI and carburated bikes before you make a decision...and i say don't listen to the magazines that talk about the extra power and all that other jazz with the newer bikes, i go faster on my 95 f3 than some people on their brand spankin new liter bikes...i've got like 50 more pounds and i'm down some 70 hp....find the bike you like by riding it and decide after
