For those of you goin to Banner Grade, I'd be goin if I wasn't already slated to be elsewhere, that road rules

I'll be hitting Sunrise highway with at least two, possibly three other riders. Two of us are highly skilled (not me), I'm still getting the hang of the hang, and the final one (the one who may not go), well, I've never ridden with him, he's a friend of a friend, so who knows. We'll be leaving at 930 from the Best Buy that's on Fletcher Parkway. Anyone who wants to come is welcome.

I just checked the Caltrans website to confirm a post on another board. It looks like Banner has some major work being done on it so I doubt it's ridable at anything over cager speeds so be carefull.

My roommate and I had a highway patrol car follow us down Banner last Saturday morning. We stopped at the restaurant at the bottom, and the cop kept going. After that a guy in a construction truck pulled up to us laughing about the cop following us down (he had been behind the cop).

The construction guy explained that rain had washed away some of the hillside and their project involves packing rock underneath unsupported bits of road, and then securing them with some type of pavement. It sounds like they won't really be changing the surface of the road, but he said that some parts will be wider after they are done.

I think he said it would take about a month, but I could be remembering that incorrectly. The signs said that Banner would be closed at night while they do the road work.

So it sounds like it's still in good shape then?

It was still in good shape. There were a few trucks stopped along the side of the road so you have to be particularly careful coming around the blind corners.

If you're riding with a "faster" group of riders, be careful of your speed right before you cross the I-8 overpass heading up towards Sunrise Hwy. Today there were 2 Highway Patrol crusiers hiding on the left hand side right before Dehesa Rd just shy of the bridge. We got lucky because our speeds were very moderate because of our newbie ride.

Actually, the guys I ride with are *very* safe riders until it's time to have fun; they ride 70mph allllll the way to sunrise. It drives me crazy cuz I love to open the R6 up and let her sing, but getting a ticket would ruin a great day's ride, so I stick to the speed limits when I'm with them, they're my good example.

you're damn right andy...you'll see once you get those multiple tickets like nic and I. After that there's no more speeding on the freeways.

Sunrise didn't pan out like planned this weekend, but next weekend (Nov. 5/6) is a go!!!
