Anyone up for an early run through some twisties/canyons, I like the highland valley run up through ramona to santa ysabel, but I'm open for suggestions.

I could go for either, I have the weekend off work. I think I'm going to the desert saturday night, so sunday probably wouldn't work. Yeah, saturday would probably be best. Anyone else want to go = post up!

I am down for some twisties. Where are we meeting up? Hopefully it will be clear. I have never been on any of these roads before so I will be in the back.

I'm in if we start early enough on Saturday morning so that I can be in Chula Vista by 12. Maybe start up north, and work our way down through Telegraph? I can't be late though... MSF riding class instructors are like nazis when it comes to being late.

Im down to go early so we can beat the traffic, cuz on weekends, it's always bad. I say we meet up on saturday (10/29/05) @ 8am at the shell gas station directly off the 15 on miramar road (its really obvious, next to "Keith's" restaurant). That way everybody can get out early and take care of their stuff, and we don't have to deal with as many people. I think we should keep this to a smaller group, only like a handful of people so that way we aren't waiting a lot, and that way we can keep track of everybody easier. Now I've only done this run a couple of times, I remember to get off at the exit just before north county mall (pomerado road), then turn right, and take a left at the first light, from there it's all kind of fuzzy. So does somebody know the way EXACTLY? If not, we'll just have to find them out, figure it out, or ask some people. I know guys like brakstad know it and others, so we will just probably have to ask around. The weather is supposed to be sunny and clear with highs of 66, doesn't get much better than that, lets get ready to ride!

i'm down to ride... it'd be my first time in twisties... but i think i can hang. i also have work at noon in La Jolla so I'd bounce out with the other guys.

You have the right route... Right on Pomerado, first left, then follow that road (left at the T after the elementary school in Ramona, followed by 90 degree right, 90 degree left, then turn left onto the 67). Roll through Ramona, next stop Santa Y... I might be up for the ride, but unable to commit at this time.. Will keep you posted... I like meeting early and not hanging around for too long, so sounds like a good plan...

Yo sounds great to me... I'm down with 8am, but I'm also concerned with people showing up late, and not being on time for my 12 o'clock in Chula. What do you think brakstad? How long will it take to go from Miramar to the 805 and Telegraph?
brakstad
10-27-2005, 02:45 AM
Miramar to Telegraph is about 25 min.... So if you leave Miramar at just after 8am, should be in Santa Y before 9AM. Hungry by then? If not, keep going to Julian and Sunrise Hwy, and hit Telegraph that way (from I8, maybe through Jamul Valley)... With a small group and short stops, you should be in the Tele area by 11AM, no problem...

For everybody, don't be concerned with not being able to keep up. For one, I'm not the fastest guy, I mean I ride an F2, and that's why I was talking about a small group of people so that way when we do have to wait it isn't long. Also, with a smaller group we keep track of everybody. So I have been updated on the route through highland, but I realized I have never done the full route up there through sunrise past julian, could someone elaborate on that route to the 8 after julian? With a smaller group of people, we can also move far more quickly even when we take breaks so I'm thinking no more than 10 (but I know tons of folks won't even show up).

Also, as mentioned, we will be meeting at the gas station AT 8AM sharp, and leave for sure by 8:10am the latest so we can all get on the road on time (just make sure to be early)!

I work graveyard until 6:00am Sat morning, but I'm sure I'll be awake enough to go. I have been on those roads more times then I can count so if needed I'll help make sure no one gets lost.

haha the bike's okay. i hosed it down and buffed out as much as i could. it looks fine minus the half of a windshield that's left and my empty signal with a wire hanging out =P
my right knee and left hip are pretty damn bruised now.. it hurts to walk around a lot. but it was fun anyways! i bought new tires today so maybe in a few weeks i'll be down to go out with you guys again - you guys are all great and fun to chill with. thanks for helping out when i went down and waiting and everything. i appreciate it http://www.hypercycles.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbup.gif
i was pretty pissed that i scratched my arai helmet though, it was pretty light but i JUST upgraded to that from my KBC on wednesday!!! oh well. put some stickers on to cover it up=P

Fun time, too bad you guys missed the telegraph part, it was a nice way of finishing the day. We almost saw this guy on a repsol 1000 die, as he passed us and a truck turning left, barely missing the truck as he went by. Good meeting you other guys, and good to here you and your bike are fine ryan, glad we were there to help.

i'm not really sure where it was, it was a left corner and i came out of it a little too wide and lost traction on a patch of dirt and went sliding into the dirt, bike into the bushes.

Yeah... Still a fun ride boyz.. Let's do it again!! The key lesson for the day is to ride witin your limits (no matter what!!!!), make sure your equipment is up to snuff (ehr, tires, etc. ), and again, ride within your limits :) All in all it was a great ride... Would be hard to describe the color of those trees on Sunrise..... I'll be there next weekend for sure... Thanks guys...

Very true... The way I see is that the only thing we should be proving to each other out there is that we can stay within our limits and ride safely and have fun. Thanks for leading brakstad.

Yea it was sure nice to ride with a group of people who don't draw attention from the cops by doing wheelies, stoppies, and burnouts or just being plain stupid. Nice to hear you are fine Ryan the pain will go away in a couple of dayz. Happy to help you out, we never leave our people behind. Thanks for leading Brakstad.

Thanks for the great ride everyone. We’ll definitely have to do it again soon. I don’t think we could have had better weather. Ryan, sorry about your spill man, but as far as accidents go you made out pretty well. I’ll take an accident you can ride home from any day. Oh, and just for a point of reference…you went down at roughly the halfway point between Julian and the north side of the Sunrise Highway. Thanks for leading Brakstad, I was really enjoying the pace on the last part of Sunrise. Perhaps sometime we can all do early morning run of Palomar or Montezuma. Till next time, take it easy everyone.

hey guys so i rode my bike fine back home, it was like a 60 mile trip so thats like 80-100 miles that the bike ran fine after the spill. it ran like nothing ever happened.
but today, buymoto got my tires in so i was heading down cam. ruiz to get them mounted and it started sputtering and losing power. i flipped to reserve thinking it was gas, but no beans, the bike died. i pulled over and started again and it started but died slowly like it was bogged. and then it just stopped starting. it would turn over, but nothing else. i tried all combos of choke and fuel switch and nothing. i walked down to a gas station and filled it up, but it wasn't empty and i only filled 2 gallons (on a 4 gallon tank). still wouldn't start. finally the battery died from my trying to start it so damn much. so i walked it all the way back up cam. ruiz to home.
what gives? i hope i don't have to take it to a mechanic. i'm gonna go find a battery charger and charge it and see if that does anything.

try checking the fuel/drainage lines....i know on my old kawi if you tipped it over you would have to pull the line and drain it because of air bubbles/pressure...after letting it drain it would start right up.
