I was 12 on a Honda 90cc trail bike. I road it as fast as it would go right into a fence. My dad was pissed.

i rode my bmw krs1100 to work.
and along the way, proceeded to stop at a red light... a little too close to where the curb drops off into the lower water drainage concrete... and dropped it.
broke the right mirror off, and someone had to help me pick that heavy mother up.
oh, and i had this bright bright all green ninja helmet.

Other than a fitty I borrowed a friends yz80 to go riding with a friend in a huge dirt pit by our neighborhood, I was maybe 12. Cops came to impound the bikes and I finally stopped lugging the little two stroker in the soft florida sugar sand...just held it pinned and shifted to gtfo. Actually launched a dropoff I didn't know was there in my panic and somehow held on although 100% out of control.
we got away :)

An old fifty that was known for bucking adults. Well first time I rode that bike I got scared of the "Power" and instead of rolling off the throttle I held it open because I was fallign backwards and grabbed a handful, well I fell off luckily or else I would of ran into the tree as well as the fifty.

The first day on with my first bike I didn't even get to ride it. I had a friend ride it home for me and he crashed it. Nothing bad. But it took insurance 2 months to pay for the repairs.
My first time on a 250 dirt bike I looped the thing. I never thought a little 250 would be so powerfull. I wasn't even WOT.

Oh man! Ya know you always say.. I wodner what happens if someone drops the bike before they buy it.... I did not know that I actually knew someone who did it!
Well for me... I first rode a Ninja 250 about a week after I graduated from high school. I had basically one of those bylon warm up suits on (I acutally still have this warm up suit... blue Nike deal) and a motocross style helmet / googles. So I took the thing out and thought I was all hard... then I ended up stalling the thing in front of a car full of girls  ... so my pride was bruised but not broken... I came back around the block to see my mom standing in the driveway... boy was she ticked.

Came to a stop and couldn't decide which foot to put down. Dropped the bike and the right turn signal broke off... boooo...!

Crashed my friends dirtbike on a patch of ice. No helmet. Bike on top of me, grinding my face against hard as concrete dirt for 10 feet. Thank god I was too cold to feel a thing.

hmmm... 1st bike ride?
bought a bike out of impulse and peer pressure, went to the dealer, fell in love with the 600RR... bought it... friend rode it home... bike sat there for a couple of days till i had the balls to actually get on it... asked the basics (clutch, brake, gas)... rode her up and down the street in my complex... next day, took my permit test...then took her out further than my street (woodman/alta view/alsacia - if you live around this area, you know its freaking busy)... almost crapped my pants... stalled a couple of times... breathing hard, shaking, nervous at a stop sign... then stalled again... went back to my complex... and i was done for the day... went through the same routine for a week or so just learning by myself... then finally took my MSF class... built up my confidence and started to get more comfortable... riding the busy street wasnt as nerve-racking as it used to be... started riding towards friends' house in eastlake or go to spring valley... then got on the freeway...
oh yeah... first day i took my bike out...i dropped it on my neighbor's car, trying to get in between my car and her car... good thing she wasnt there or no one saw me... LOL.... put a little mark on her car and scratched my tail...

First day on MY first bike......my Gixxer 400 import, felt safe below 8 grand, after 8 grand, "holy crap....mummy I'm scared." :guitar: Hadn't learnt to have faith in only 2 tires at that point either so I couldn't steer for sh1t.
Blew the motor a few months later, youthful exuberance and dumping down 2 gears too many going into a left hander. :errf:
Wish I hadn't killed it, it would've been a fun track toy.

the first bike I ever rode? was some 80cc dirtbike or somethin..I don't even remember what happened, but I was at my friends house in his front yard patio..well, there was plenty of acceleration involved and the bike blew off the stupid hose bib.
chaos ensued, had to turn the water off and torch that sucker back on before his parents got home..that was interesting.

Damn, Darrin. I know you're about my age (although I don't look as old and decrepid), but I still remember my first day.
I had my black and red Ninja 250 delivered to my house simply because I didn't want to drop her at or near the dealership. After the truck that dropped it off left, I got on her and proceeded to ride around the block when I decided I was ready to rock. I then asked my wife (who was just as reckless and carefree as I was back then) to get on and we proceeded to ride it all the way down to Chula Vista. Oh, and this was even without a license or permit. I just remember as we were nearing H street, the grooves on the freeway started causing some serious headshake. Of course, my newbie instincts told me to tighten up even more on the clipons. Fortunately, we managed to make it down there and visit some relatives as well as ride it home without incident. I'll go into the helmetless rides on a different thread. :lift:

ok ok.... i threw a leg over a bike for the first time in the riders seat in spring of 77. started racing flat track in 78. got on the street in 84. lots of crashing and mistakes figuring out how to back a bike into a corner. dirt track racing rattles your guts out.
i can't tell you how many times on the street i've been saved by tactics i learned on a racetrack with a flat track bike. can't handle sport bikes quite the same way but i was riding standards back then.
damn rich, that hurt thinking back that far!

Pa had a 68 Yamaha 250 when I was growing up. He rode it for a year before my ma told him to put it away, and/or get rid of it. It sat in the shed (northern Minnesota) for 23 years before they divorced, and he didn't have any place to store it. He gave it to me. I rebuilt the bike as best as I could (no knowledge and no parts support or tech support), and she did run; albeit once. Couldn't sync the carbs up right. Went around the block, and the inerds to the mufflers shot out.
Gave the bike to a friend after that.
Next bike was few years later. Going through my divorce, my son and I were looking for a father/son type activity. Got the idea for pocket bikes. So, we went down and got two 49cc bikes, and rode them for a couple of months at Amago (local 1/2mile 12 turn track). Mine wasn't scary enough, so I purchased a butt ton of mods for it. Still not scary enough, so purchased a 110cc 4speed bike. Really fast, but still left to only parking lots and that track which was 60 miles away:cry:
So, like said before, peer pressure and impulse gave in, and I got my gixxer. First ride was with LInMae, Carrol, Kelly and Meastro. Great ride, they took care of me! Didn't let me go too fast, and watched out for me.
I'm still learning, and have been on a few rides since. I've had the bike for a month now and I've put 880 miles on her, only on Sunday rides....

Dirtbike: 12 years old at my elementary school riding it on some small hills. A little too much gas and pretty much looped the bike. Had the wind knocked out of me and the bike was surprisingly okay.
Streetbikes: Had 2 YSR50s that I would ride around everwhere when I was 15.
