As expected they are impressed. I must admit that at first I didn't really like the looks of it, but the more I gaze at it the better it looks. Anyone who buys this bike and does not have it on the track more than 50% of the time is crazy.

The more I see this beauty, the less I think that 9K for a 600 isn't so bad after all!!

Colored rims are the shizzle! The gixxer looks way better, but I wish they'd gone w/ the 5 spoke rims :(

Do you guys think that this new throttle will then need a PC (power commander)? If you throw on a new pipe will it compensate?

As a direct trickle down from Yamaha's M1 MotoGP race bike, the most exciting development for the new 6, and indeed sportbikes in general, has got to be the YCC-T. Using a system that has no physical connection from the rider's wrist to the throttle bodies, Yamaha states its "fly by wire" throttle creates a better link between man and machine. Feeling just like a regular throttle, you are still turning dual throttle cables up at bars, but the wheel they turn down at the fuel injectors is not connected to the throttle bodies. As you twist the Go Handle, a powerful ECU starts making decisions based on a vast array of sensor readings such as: air temperature, intake air pressure, atmospheric pressure, crankshaft position, engine speed, temperature, throttle position and amount of oxygen. It then precisely opens the throttle to give the engine just the right amount of fuel, compared to a conventional system than can give it too much. Blitzing round the Losail track it worked perfectly and any attempts to catch it out proved futile.

I would think that they programmed the ECU to make decisions based on what it thinks is on the bike leaving the factory. With that said, I am sure putting on a new pipe would change the exhaust data it receives leading to modification of the air/fuel ratio, but I'm not sure.

Are the red, white and black/ silver Gixxers euro only colors? I didn't we were getting those colors over here in the states.

bikes already have a TPS...

and so not much should be different, the sensor reads throttle posistion, then you get your fuel based on the map.

with the throttle by wire, it will still get the TP and adjust fuel accordingly,...so yes the powercommander will need to hook up to the ecu or tps.

the nice thing about the FBW throttle is that you could change rates, and percent turn needed....

with that said,....damn those new gsxr 600's are hot....loke that red black and the blue white

does anyone know of any after market exhauts or slip ons for the new R6? when do they usually come out in relation to the release of a new model? it will be interesting to see what they design since the R6 has a pretty unique exhaust.
