View Full Version : Photochromatic visors... anyone know of any?

I was looking around for a company that made photochromatic visors for helmets.

Photochromatic means that the visor would tint when exposed to sunlight and be clear when no sunlight is present.

Photochromatic lenses are available for eyeglasses and I thought they would be fantastic for the helmets this time of year since when I go to work it is sunny and when I go home it is dark.

Anyone ever seen anythign like this?

I have the fog city, and it actually gets a litlte darker than that (if I remember correctly they need to sit in the sun for a little while the very first time you use them).
After about 3 years, it doesn't work as well as it used to, but when it was new, it turned blue enought hat it was like riding with a light tint. I wear it any time I think I might be out after dark or on darker days, especially if there is any fog. The anti-fog feature is pefect and almost worth it on it's own.

I know a few of the big dealerhips in town carry them for ~$30

So this thing has an adhesive back and you put it on the inside of teh helmet correct?

Yes, it goes on the inside. Make sure to get the Arai one if you have an arai, so you hev the vents

Here are some pics to give you a better idea.

+1.

I wonder if Buymoto can get the Fog City ones... preferably in just a "smoke" type tint... I'm not so much for the color because it does weird thigns to my eyes when I take the helmet off.... bleh....

But the fog feature would be worth it too... I only fog up whenI wear my balaclava... but I am starting to do that more with the weather getting a wee bit cold... especially if you're riding near the 52/805 merge at around 11:00 pm... BOO!
