If you can't have a 2006 GSXR's with their short exhaust why not fabricate one? HyperSport Racing in Chula Vista started to shorten pipes making them look & sound better. After seeing the 2006 Suzuki GSXR in person with their even shorter exhaust it was back to the drawing board. A Custom fabricated mid section pipe which is mandrel bent and totally bolt on. The sound???? If you don't like your neighbors this is your way to go. HSR also does custom undertail and highside exhausts. I'm not trying to be a salesman but just would like everyone to see his work and also something different than what you would see out at Bike Nights or any motorcycle magazine.

We have a baseline dyno before the mod, just haven't had time to go back for it again. Gerald had a custom undertail exhaust and went to modify but decided to shorten his Yoshi instead. Also, had to get ready for Fontana this weekend.

Hey Mike, I still wanna chop my akra since it's dented on one side but not as short as that tri oval. Would Gerald be able to cut titanium?

He can cut anything.. Titanium, Carbon fiber, etc. He also got a new TIG welder for aluminum & cleaner welds. Gerald can do it. He'll hook you up. Anything with Metal and can be fabricated he can do it. You should see the 2006 Ford SuperDuty with 10" lift, 2005 F150 Turbocharged in the shop right now.

I'm gonna have to hit 'em up. I can't stand to see my pipe 'al dente'
P.S-What's the turn around time? Price?

looks cool but I think you would have serious issues with ground clearance when cornering. That thing sticks out farther than the peg and it's lower! cool for bike night though!

im just talking about your MIG pipe... it just looks clean on your bike - if it wasnt originally for the r6 - well, it looks like it belongs on that bike...

Couldn't really get a good shot of the pipe since it was at night and didn't have much space in the garage. The can is basically in the same place where the stock or non-cut yosh pipe is. And it doesn't get in the way of your boot when you ride. All of these issues were tried before finalizing the weld.

is that exhaust the tri-oval dual tip just cut to be short? It looks really awsome! I was thinking of maybe getting that exhaust.

Yes, this is the dual tip Yoshi, Totally different sound compared to the single tip.

good lookin pipe, but as shaggy said, it looks like from the pic that the pipe is sticking out further than the footpeg.
you got a pic of the bike from directly behind?

Why not just keep the mid-pipe same length and make the can shorter? That would probably prevent the angle between the pipe and bike from being increased. Plus, I always thought the design of the mid-pipe was most important in keeping the power delivery optimal.

The short pipes looks good on the bike

The mid pipe is actually the same size just that instead of modifing the yosh one he fab'd a new one and made a bracket and overlapped the muffler and went away with the exhaust hanger near the seat. will post pics when i get em'

If you don't me asking but why chop the real Tri Oval?!!? Thats such a dope a*s pipe!!! Did he crash it? Reason being, isn't that pipe r&d'd from Yosh to create optimal hp gains while maintaining an equal amount of back pressure?!? :nerd:

Arne... you are thinking waay too hard.....He chopped the pipe not because he went down, He just wanted to be different and wanted the look & sound. A Yoshi tech told him before he started chopping these cans that depending on the track their race bikes use different size cans for backpressure and might lose some backpressure and will get louder. I got my bike dyno's tuned at Lees Cycle before i chopped it. The MAP they put on it was great with no hesitation at all. Once i cut the pipe i noticed that i lost some bottom end torque around 6-8k rpms (most power is in the higher rpm anyway) but above that it hauled ass. Yoshi does plenty of R&D for their parts and get the best possible hp out of their products. The cans that they sell are long enough to be quiet for the street but still offer plenty of hp gains. When you chop these pipes you may or may not add horsepower. If your bike has PowerCommander or Yosh box, you can fine tune the pipe, air filter to the bike as well with any other engine mod. Tell me how many people you know who put an airfilter, exhaust, etc. with or without a PowerCommander and just wanted the sound? This is just like street racing, someone is always doing something different. As soon as i get some time i will take my bike back to Lee's to re-tune and see if their is any power loss or if they can squeeze more power from it. For now, ill sacrifice a lil torque for the look and sound.

so how do you guys figure the new gix 6 an R6 will sound with aftermarket pipes compared to traditional 600's. will these rules still apply? they have to make a shorter can ... i wonder if it will be easy to get an aftermarket system that removes the silencer-cat type thing on the R6 http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/products/modelimage/8/57/0/image.aspx
