Tire question***:
I'm currently running Sportec M1's and it's about time for a new rear tire. I want something more sticky, but I don't want to change the front right now. Is it not smart, performance wise to get say a Rennsport...(maybe something else) rear and keep the M1 front. My plan would be to eventually get the matching front tire. Any suggestions:)
Gearing question:
Getting new sprockets and 520 chain. I will most likely go +2 in the rear and -1 in the front. Any different suggestions for a 2003 R6. I'm looking for a little more torque and beter 3rd gear power. Finally, how difficult is the install?
Thanks in advance for your help and responses:D :D

I would say big no no on the tire match up...how out this....
buy the renns now and save the m1 front for later...so if u dont like the renns(which u wont :-p )...you can just buy a m1 rear....
gearing..install is pretty much staright forward...more time cutting chain..but its simple..on my old gix...it was starightforward..bout an hour...

hey LV, this is Jay....if i were you i would just go one down in the front, cost like 30-35 bucks and you don't need a new chain. Trust me they get really buzzy with 2up and one down. Anywho if you decide to do it get the chain tool and you can use my garage. Talk to you soon bro. You going riding tomorrow?

Having a done a quick and easy sprocket and chain installation along with a help of a couple bystanders, all you need is a dremel to cut the chain. But remember to remove the front sprocket first! If you have a clip type chain, installation will be smooth, but if you have a rivet chain, you will have to have a riveting tool.

I'll probably suck it up and just buy the set:D, but those puppies sure ain't cheap. I know it will be worth it though! You gonna stick with the stock gearing on the new Gix?

Jay that's awesome bro, I could use some help with it once I decide what I want to go with. One down sounds good because my chain only has 11k miles on it.
I was thinking about heading out in the morning depending on the weather situation. Whatcha got in mind?Telegraph...Tight side...

I went +2 in the back and -1 in the front on my 2002... great performance out in the twisties but you're buzzin' along on the freeway....I'll be around 8K at 75-80mph.
going from a 535 to a 520 helps out too...the chain is a lot small/lighter than stock...
Took me about 20 minutes to change the sprockets but I had to have Lee's install the chain since I didn't have the rivet tools.
