Ok I get the idea of what a "squid" is, but is there a technical definition to this thing that you call "squid"?

Thanks...

My interpretation of a squid is someone that rides without sensible protective gear or rides in a sketchy way (hazardous to themselves or others either thru ignorance or idiocy).
It's kind of a generalizing term, but you'll immediately know one when you see one.

Guess that would be me, then. Riding in a sketchy way. At least I've gotten the gear now!:squid:

I also attributed fast straight line speed and very slow cornering to squidlyness.

Just like a squid.... Squirt in a straight line real fast, turn slowly, then squirt in a different direction real fast.

yeah or they usually ride 1000s and rip into us little 600's on the straights only to be caught on the next corner....

A :squid: is not attributable to a particular action or lack thereof. It's a state of mind really. It's a belief of invincibility regardless of reason. It is a lack of care not only for oneself but others around him/her. Lastly, squidliness is a belief that speed attained reflects a measurement of masculinity or shlong size (curiously, does not only apply to the male species).

shlong size
Don't need speed to know just how long it is. It's more of a weather thing. Cold= :nutkick: Warm= Hot= :squid:

From what I learned in San Diego, its those guys who get thier first bike and feel so invinsible they end up as street pizza later.

I get called a squid when I wheelie, stoppie, burnout or dont wear my gear.

The traditional definition came from the bright color blended leathers worn by racers, many people state this resembles tropical fish or squids.

Some people call sportbikers 'fish' because we travel in packs with brightly colored gear. Not to mention were all trying to avoid the sharks (cops).

Haha, this is so funny and true. Totally reminds me of this guy I know whom I met occasionally going on rides up through old julian and he would whip past me and my friend every weekend on his ZX-10R (he is always in a wind breaker and tennis shoes mind you). He summed up by stating something along the lines of how everyone can be fast in the straights but in the corners is where it takes a skilled pilot.
