Drafter II - #3714
This position will be located at General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (ASI) in Rancho Bernardo working with Facilities. Use computer-aided design (CAD), to develop layouts, floor plans and other necessary detail drawings from existing blueprints, facilities input and verbal instructions. Work from these various forms of input; make mathematical calculations as required; determine proper layout of and prepare complete drawings that will be used for demolition, installations and design modifications to improve building floor plans and office space. Work from engineering notes, verbal instructions, and rough or detailed sketches, prepare readable working plans, detailed drawings, and complete mechanical or electrical drawings , piping, HVAC, air, vacuum systems. Verify own work by checking dimensions, making mathematical calculations as required using handbooks and catalogs in support of drafting calculations, materials used, and quantities. Use proper drafting techniques such as determining the drawing and view scaling required; center and dimension lines, hidden line interpolations, and sectioning in the preparation of production detail drawings. Revise existing CAD drawings as needed. Create as built drawings through field examination of building floor plans or systems. Create CAD files of existing plans where only blueprint copies are available. Create color employee location charts by Dept. Maintain records, files, drawings and part lists, specifications, standards, and other data essential to the completion of building floor plans and capital asset location, TI and improvement update to drawings as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or associate’s degree or equivalent. May substitute equivalent experience in the field. Two years experience in drawing techniques. Basic working knowledge of Mechanical and Architectural operations and processes. Familiarity with industry practice and standards. Good oral and written communication skills to communicate ideas and for presenting results. Knowledge of computer operations and software relevant to drafting and design tasks. Thorough knowledge of safety practices including OSHA requirements, tools, equipment, blueprint reading and interpretation. Requires a valid "Class C" California driver’s license, a good driving record as determined by the Department of Motor Vehicles. Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Self-starter who works well with others. Experience with Cad Key, modeling skills using solid modeling software, advanced computer skills a plus.
