Ladies,
Interested this year? I believe both days are demo days (which means the bikes will be provided for you). I wouldn't exactly call it a "track day" as from my experience last year, it just seemed like a day where the ladies get to try out a bunch of different types of bikes. It's pretty fun riding bikes that you wouldn't normally ride (I rode a buell last year  ) and you're close to Vegas as well.

Thanks for bumping the thread, Anna!

I will sign up for the Saturday Demo day and party in Vegas on Sunday (I feel a 4 day weekend coming...). Hopefully by the end of the week, I'll sign up, granted the bonus () comes through.

I'll have you know that riding the Buell Lightning Long was my favorite part of that track day! Or maybe October. Of the year 2005. Anyhow, I'm gonna get one first chance I get.

My favorite part was definitely taking the ex500 around and scraping up the footpegs. I was glad to be able to ride a couple liter-class bikes though. I hope to get out there this year too... But i'm not sure yet what my school schedule will be like. crossing fingers!

It's funny you mentioned that, as riding the Buell at last years Femmoto was one of my least favorite experiences, though helpful for my ever growing list of "bikes not to buy". Not to be harsh, but the thing handeled like an gutsy scooter caught in a tornado. It was all over the place! It redlined at what seemed like 2 grand, and left a quessy feeling in my stomach just looking at it. (You can pick on the R6 now if you like....I can take it.)

Again, sorry for the harsh words (mabey I should keep my opinions to myself.):rifle:

No worries, I've got nothing but love for the R6.. like I told you when we first met last week, I fully intended to buy an R6 all three times I've gone bike shopping, and always just ended up finding a fabulous deal on something else. BUT.. I really enjoyed the Buell. Femmoto was only my second time on the track, and I didn't have the riding experience that you do at the time by any means. I'm looking forward to getting back on the bike this Fall and see how much my opinion of it has changed.

....I have so little! I've only done a dozen or so track days in about a years time, but have picked up a lot. Handeling is obviously a very key element needed to ride better and learn more....and (to me at least) the Buell seems to have dismissed that very concept while designing that thing they call a sportbike (or something like thereof.) I would be more than happy to show you a few pointers at the next track day I see you at, and you could even take my bike out to get the feel of the most nible, flickable, fun, slightly underpowered, bike around! (Just be careful.)

What happens if you crash the demo bike?

Chuckie (TreAdidas) and I went through every document and were unable to find anywhere that holds the rider liable in the case of a crash. We then spoke to Bonnie, the woman who runs the track day, and she said herself that you are not liable unless you were doing something blatantly irresponsible.

It all depends on your measurements. You may want to post up this information to get a more accurate suggestion. I'm sure my friend, Oggie, would be happy to take them for you if you don't know them.

Teknic has a great two piece suit for just $549 retail. BuyMoto's price is $467. Lin has one, maybe she can comment on how it's worked out for her lately.

Alpinestars has a new women's suit also, the Stella TX-1 two piece. It runs $769 retail, BuyMoto's price is $654. This suit replaces the one that I have, the TZ-1. It's a great suit, and has held up very nicely for me for over a year.

I have had my Alpinestars TZ-1 suit for about a year and a half and have personally crash tested it on a few occasions....it keeps sticken together like a champ! I had mine perforated though, as it comes with limited ventilation. All in all it's a very sturdy suit, that looks pretty good (though Alpinestars really needs to dable in womens one-piece racing suits) and it' s very reasonably priced. Good luck

Hey Becky,

I plan on buying full leathers this week and was checkin out the Teknic two piece from 2005, do you have any of those?? I like the look of them better than the new style...plus the 2005 come in red and black (which are my colors). Does the new style come in red???

Also...what to you have for aftermarket side mirrors for my Ninja 650R? Besides the dents and scratches (which I will be getting fixed soon too) I got my bike all fixed up from the crash (new trottle and front brake lever...pretty minor stuff), but I havn't ordered a new left mirror yet b/c I don't know what would be best for when I put on my new race farings. Any suggestions? I have to keep the bike street legal.

Femmoto doesn't sound like it's going to be quite as kosher as last year...it's going to be two "demo" days instead of the second day being an actual track day ; ( So, demo days seem to be much more melow (or at least the manufactures would hope you would be), as you are riding on stock tires and bikes that are not yours.

I am thinking of doing both days:thumbsup:

Could you send me a link as to what the aftermarket mirror looks like?? So they DO make them in red! Would you be able to send me a link with a picture of that would look like? Or do you have any in stock? I might just come in to try on a size (no matter what color).

I think that size 6 would be too big for lucy... if I remember right.

I have the teknic venom two piece, the older model. They fit me really really well. Haven't been down in them, but not really looking to, either.
Also, teknic back protector--it's kinda big. It's a small, but the dainese one I tried on before just seemed to fit better. Of course, much more expensive.
I have astars gauntlets, teknic pucks, and teknic boots. The boots fit a little wide, for me, but I think it's just that my feet are narrower than most.

I hope that helps. If i still lived down there I'd let you girls try everything on to get an idea of what sizes you need... sorry!

So what's the difference between a demo day and a track day? Does it make it kind of laimer?

Nenna
06-01-2006, 05:35 PM
Demo day, you ride their bikes. If you crash, but you're not doing anything stupid, it's not your fault. We had five sessions in one day, last year. I signed up for the aprilia tuono, kawi 636, 500, and z1000, and a buell. I ended up not taking out the buell, although other people did.

A track day, you bring your own bike, your own tires, etc. You have to prep your bike and get it there, but then you can ride your bike a little harder if you know you have good tires and you're willing to risk it.

I loved the demo day. It was such a good experience to ride a twin, a liter bike, and to take the ex500 out on the track (its footpegs will never be whole again...)

If my finances and school schedule allow, I'll be there Saturday, and hopefully sunday.

Also, it's a good way to meet other women who ride, from all over the world, including amateur racers (debra kuick was there last year, she's amazing fast) and amaproracer Jessica Zalusky was there as well.

Asian Barbie

So this could be a really silly question, but do any ladies have this problem?
My nails are long (ish) because I get them done in pink and white fills, so that at their longest they will extend about 0.5" past my fingers. So when I wear my riding gloves, sometimes the nails push against the glove tips and my fingertips get really sore.
Aside from the obvious of cutting them shorter (eww) are there any gloves where you can custom design the finger length or something?

No white for the Stella suit, sorry.

Here is some measurement info for the Teknic sizing. If you don't have a cloth tape measure in the shop, you can come to BuyMoto and borrow mine! The smallest size is definitely 4. Perhaps you can contact one of the other ladies who have bought the suit before to see if theirs fits you, or you can come in and try on our size 6 to confirm that you'd need a 4.

Unfortunately, I can't place an order until payment is received, so make sure you know what size you need before I take your money! :nerd:

This thread actually came up in February of last year. Although I don't think Ms Nails ever came up with a solution for these...

... it's a very interesting thread.

A place called Z-Custom Leathers up in LA was mentioned for custom gloves. Maybe try them?

Cool, I will have to go into BuyMoto sometime soon and at least try on that size 6.

As for the gloves, it's not a huge deal but for longer periods of riding it can end up hurting my hands. It's definitely the bike over the nails for me anyway... although I think Ms Nails had a bigger problem on her hands with her 2 1/2" long fingernails! Thats kinda gross!!
Hopefully I can just try on other brands and find a pair that works. Thanks Becky!

I had a similar problem with gloves (and nails), so I just bought a larger size (though I seem to have long spindly fingers too). I have a men's size medium (Alpinesstars GP-Techs) and they are a little loose width wise, but a stellar fit length wise.

I am still deciding, especially since there is not a track day (own bike) attached to it. Plus, we have to get there on Friday night, just make sure that we actually get a decent bike to ride the next day. I am interested to see how many of you are going. The more the merrier and will actually make the even more worthwhile.

They have something called the school of champions in which you ride your own bike all day, sounds like they have someone follow you around? Or give you advice on riding with your own bike. I couldn't find any details on it, but it's 175 if you want to do it.

Their site is weird in the sense that you have to scroll down each time. Also, did you just buy your Femmoto membership? I think it said something about waiting 24 hours after you have signed up for your membership before you sign up for the track day. Could that be it? Or is that something completely different?

I bought a membership earlier on this year because I knew I wanted to go to Femmoto. We get pink shirts this year. ;)

Now the hard part is findin' some leathers = )

They have leather rental service. And you can also try on some suits at BuyMoto. Are those still there? Or have they flown off the shelf already?

Depending on what time we all plan on getting there, and how many days we're staying...? I'm not going to do the banquet. I think I rather be running around exploring Vegas at that hour and grabbing some fast food. =)

If the question is geared toward safety vs. requirement, buy the one that zips all the way around. The point is you don't want the top separating from the bottom in a crash. It'll look like you were breakdancing on glass afterwards.

So it looks like a Friday night check in? Regular price is $150 :silenced: ~5 hour drive from SD to Vegas.....So we should leave early afternoon on Friday?

Then again...we can stay at some motel not on the strip.
Ramada Inn Speedway (http://www.hotels.com/property.do?COYear=2006&searchID=AC102643-F123-5B91-0D32-8C0C0F697A92&propertyIdsToCompareString=&destination=4fded4ff-af4a-41b7-976b-bd5bd436f135%7Cb68f06c3-77a8-49f1-9ba2-c9e779fdad9d%7CLas+Vegas%2C+NV%2C+USA%7C1&mtnHotelID=286439&numrooms=1&roomOccupancyString=1%7C%7C2%7C0%7C0&searchMtmPropertySupplierId=&PSRC=OT2&usertypedcity=&paging=1&alternateSell=&searchType=&sortBy=PRICE&CIMonth=10&CODay=8&allPropertyTypesSelected=true&COMonth=10&priceRangeKey=1&TSRC=1&CIYear=2006&CIDay=6) which is located 5 miles from the track. $59.00 a night for two queens.

Redtatt2

Well hopefully we don't have to rent a car (as making this as cheap as possible is the game plan..haha) but I guess it would still be cheaper than flying. 2 Nights stay is fine with me. I could go with Jeanette's idea too! I've never been to Vegas, so at least spending a couple of nights out and about would be awesome.

Jeanette, I'm debating whether I should take Matt along or not either. He'd be a great umbrella boy too! =) But if Mikey is going, then I'm sure bringing Matt along to keep him company might be nice.....

Bring Matt along, then we can split a room. It would make it a little less akward for the other girls, unless you girls don't mind romming with a guy for a night or two in order to split cost, I'm all up for it. Jen, is Tony and/or Timmy coming along too?

One reason why I want Mikey to come along is because I would feel safer in Vegas with him. (I know...I'm traditional. LoL) And also, he can drive home and I can just sleep after my long track day.

I called Saharh today and they told me the special rate is $68 weekday and $110 weekend. No thank you.

I'm thinking Ramada Inn Speedway is our best bet b/c it's 5 miles from the track and the strip. $59 a night for two nights ~ 118 +tax (what's NV tax?) for two queen beds. If there's 6 ppl in that room, 20 bucks a night. Anyone want in?

Still looking for an OK to put down for two rooms..
So far only 7 can confirm that they are staying with us in the hotels.. possibly 2 more.

Y'all know how it is being "that person..." I just want to make sure I don't end up empty handed! Before I get the second room I'll need to hear that everyone's ok with splitting up the $ for the rooms regardless of the final count.. meaning that we may have anywhere from 3 to 6 per room, and each person may be responsible for anywhere from $18 - $35 per night depending on the final count. How does that sound?

Ok.. We have reserved two non-smoking rooms at the Summer Bay Resort, located at 100 Winnick 89109. The rooms were $95.96 each for two nights plus taxes and fees, which came to a total of $431.40.

2. Jen (JenEBean)
3. Anny (xiaoyin)

I'm taking care of the hotel arrangements, so everyone please bring enough money in CASH to pay for the hotel.

I'm not in the loop for driving arrangements, so everyone is welcome to arrange whatever necessary. There are several girls who will need rides, and my roomates and I have already filled up the car we're bringing.

I can't wait girls!

Is there anyone who has a spot left in their car? All I own is a motorcycle or else I would just drive up and take a few people with me. Please! If anyone can help?!

I'm going up w/ Mikey, Jeanette, and Hieu. My little sister is going up for other reasons, but wants to catch a ride back down with us on Sunday. I'm going to borrow my mom's Suburban - it'll be more comfortable for everyone that way. You're welcome to ride with us!

Are you guys riding Sat and Sun, or just Sun? I'm in Vegas now, and will probably stop by and check out the hot action :)

I've been there, but what do I know, being a white guy and all
It was actually recommended to me by my Vietnamese coworker, I trust his judgement

Great times! Can't wait til next year!

Ok girls.. What was your best session of the day and why?

I'm torn between the ZX-10 and racing Stacia on the Xciting 250/500 scooters!
I have to admit.. I didn't like the 636 last year, so I didn't have uber high expectations when I rode that or the ZX10 this year. Now I think it was more because of my personal inexperience at the time and being uncomfortable on a new bike.

On the same note, I will continue to maintain my desire to buy a Buell. I don't care what anyone else says. Only now I'm torn between the Firebolt and the Lightning Ss. :D
