Hi guys. Steve here, the guy with the wrecked '05 r6. i don't know when our next gbm is, so i though i'd just post it here.

How many of you know someone who's been affected by cancer? I can already think of 4-5 off the top. There is a club on campus called Colleges Against Cancer (CAC) and they're hosting their annual Relay For Life event this coming April (22nd, i think). It's a fundraising event that's designed to raise awareness against cancer and all the other stuff go with it like smoking, occupational hazards, etc. As for the event itself...

Basically, we form teams and walk for 24 hours. !!! say what? Haha. Yeah 24 hours. But the trick is, the more people you have in your team, the less you have to walk. So for example, if you have 12 people in your group, each person gets 2 hours on the track. HooRAH!

Last year, they had 37 teams participate, and this year, they have 17 so far - frats, sororities, medclubs, opto clubs, whatever they have here on our campus. The signups are ongoing, and I think it'd be great if we go out there as a team and participate. It'll be fun, right? Walking for 24 hours? Well, there are a lot of things to do while we're out there. Some of things they're preparing are:

1. ucsd tritones
2. local bands
3. food stands (all i remember from the GBM is chipotle)
4. free masseuse (pending)
5. games - poker tourney, etc
6. movies

just to name a few. well. i'm getting tired of typing, but let me know what you guys think! i think it'll be great, and it'll be for a good cause. let's show some biker spirit! :rifle:

Hey, I think that is a great idea! My parents are super into it for the Camarillo Relay. I'm not sure if I will be here that weekend and it also doesn't leave much time for people to raise money. Come on people and participate in a little bit of fun charity for a great cause!

It's like a big sleepover party on the track on campus. ^_^ I think we could probably get a good group going...just think of it as camping for a cause...can we bring bbq grills?

If there is cold refreshing drinks and bbq, it might not be so bad.

Sign up if you guys can make it...I think you need at least 10 members for us to participate. You don't have to be UCSD...you just have to have the time and make it out there to walk. Just follow the link up above and join the team.

It's only me and you so far Howard. They won't let our team participate unless we have more than 10 members I think. Due to the fact that someone needs to be constantly walking around the track. Please sign up even if you can only stay for 1 or 2 hours.

Yay!! Three of us! I don't exactly know when the event starts...trying to look for an event schedule, but not finding one. So what time do you guys want to meet up on campus on Saturday to check in?

If you guys can't make it out, you can always just donate to help support this cause. Thanks a bunch!
