Ok guys here are the plans....they are unfortunately contingent on weather.

Saturday the 4th, 9:00am @ Starbucks in La Cumbre Plaza

So the deal is, arrive gassed up and prepared to leave from there. We'll hang out for a bit and shoot the **** while people show up. I'll be there at 9am or earlier and will allow about a half an hour for people to arrive. We should leave around 9:30 or so. If, for whatever reason you can't make it on time....CALL ME so I know you're planning on it since at this point, I don't know how many riders we've got.

We'll be doin' the 192/150 run and will discuss whatever concerns people have before-hand.

The weather report is calling for a 40% chance of rain on Friday, IF we get a bunch of rain then postponing 'til Sunday might be an option. Obviously if we get too much, it'll have to wait for another day....but I'm crossing my fingers that that's not going to happen.

SO....hopefully a bunch of you are on-board for this!!! So far it sounds like 4-5 people for sure...I'm hoping for more though.

Until then,

That's not what I want to hear RIGHT after I post the time/date/location. Can anyone else not make it? Or maybe it's more appropriate to ask if anyone CAN make it. Now two of my guys that I was planning on coming, aren't.

I just checked the weather forcast for Saturday and Sunday on Accuweather.com and it looks like we should be getting some good weather. It doesn't matter to me what day we go cause I'll prolly end up going both days...

I've been talking to lots of people around UCSB about getting more rides together; everybody sounds super interested but in the end they never show up. I suppose it's probably a good thing since most of the people at UCSB are crazy squids with 600's as first bikes. I'll tell all the same peeps about the ride this weekend and hope that some show up...

If we hit up the 192 and 150 that early in the morning everybody needs to be really careful about damp road conditions; the trees that hang over those roads keep it shady and as a result it takes a while for the sun to dry things out. Fun roads nonetheless!

Are we not going to hit up the 33 too? Even if the group doesn't, I'll prolly continue on since the 33 is really where the good stuff starts ;) .

I'm down for Sunday, I might be a little tired after the trip to UCR on Saturday though. I also have a football game to play on Sunday so I'll just have to see how much I have left.

I don't think the time of day is going to make all that much difference with the roads being wet/dry. By the time we get out to where it's good, it's gonna be 10-10:30. As long as there wasn't recent rain or damp conditions the night before, we'll be fine.

Yeah, I hope we don't get a bunch of squidly guys! I hate pickin' up downed bikes and waiting for the ambulance. But yeah, see if you can get the word out for Saturday.

The exact route after 192/150 is open for whatever people want to do. I really like to go through Ojai and out towards Santa Paula. I've only done part of the 33 once and didn't care all that much for it. This is why: seemed nearly impossible to tell what the road surface was like (gravel/no gravel), many of the corners needed to be taken at triple digit speeds to be fun, a popular cop hang-out, drunks from the Deer Lodge, long way from help if need be...among other things. That's just from my experience so far....but I don't know why any of that would've changed. Anyway, like I said....we can talk about it all before we leave.

Gentlemen,

Here we are 24 hours from our first rendezvous and I regret to inform you all that it's gonna have to be postponed. I listened to it dump rain last night and now I hear cars driving by my house hissing from all the water on the road. THAT'S too much. With no sun in sight to dry everything out....I don't see any other option. We just don't have rideable conditions. If by some miracle we get loads of sunshine today and tomorrow then maybe we can do a Sunday ride...but I doubt people are gonna show.

CURSE YOU RAIN!!!

Well hell, if you're gonna be all die-hard about it then I can't exactly not show up, huh. haha Alright, if it's dry then I'll be there too. At absolute least to support the forming of some sort of regular group. So are the two guys you met up with last weekend gonna come out too?

Yes we DO need more people on the forum!

Aight, I think I have 3-4 people showing up. We're meeting ont he Exxon on Holister and then riding to the other meeting place. Speaking of which, where is La Cumbre Plaza?

Shawn

I'm not sure which Exxon you're talking about...otherwise I'd give you instructions from there. You can get there from Hollister (which turns into State) or from the freeway, both of which intersect La Cumbre road. La Cumbre road splits 5 points and La Cumbre Plaza. Those are the two malls right across from each other. I'm sure you know of them, maybe just not their names. There's a Chevron and another gas station right there on La Cumbre too. There's actually a Starbucks in both malls but the one in La Cumbre Plaza has more parking. It's also got some outdoor seating that views the parking lot so it'll be easier to find people and keep an eye on our bikes. You can give me a call in the am if you have trouble finding it.
