Hey all,
I've been lurking on the boards for a while, but no longer!
I'll be taking some extension courses at UCSD this quarter, and I recently acquired a new anniversary edition R6. I'd like to know how you guys secure your bikes, and where you park them. I was thinking of getting LoJack just in case, and to catch the poor bastard to tried to steal my bike.
I was never worried about having my bike stolen when I had my 1995 FZR600.
Where do you all park? Are there 'safer' areas?
Thanks for the info.

dont park in Gilman :) but some lots have a bar that you can chain your bike to, although ive never really seen many people use them. Also heard of bikes being stolen in the muir lot.

Find another bike that looks better than yours and park next to it.
j/k
I've heard of people lifting bikes (that were locked) from gilman. Wherever you park, try to lock it to something, like the metal bars or poles.

Or instead of getting lojack. Just spend that money and get theft insurance. Lojack isnt cheap and does not guarentee that you will get your bike back in one piece. Its a big possibility by the time you locate it, your bike will be stripped with no one to blame. However, theft insurance is the better way to go because its less of a risk since you are covered. I was actually in the same predicament as you a month back. In a few weeks I will be covered with theft insurance and I wont have to worry as much. Good luck,
Mike

yea, i say go with theft insurance, especially here. it definitely helped me when i had my last bike stolen. all the other things may be cheaper, but no guarantee you'll get anything close to theft insur (money wise). or you can go get the krytonite chain, i'm sure that'll keep your bike from going missing.

I've heard good and bad things about LoJack. I had a friend that had his Mustang stollen and they didn't find it until 2 or 3 days later. By then it had been stripped. All it takes is 30 minutes and it can be taken into Mexico and you'll definately never see it again. I'd have to agree if your worried about it being stollen, get insurance on it.

Thanks guys!
I do have full coverage on the motorcycle ... it's just the pain of going through all the hoops when the bike does get stolen. BUt at least it's replaceable.
You guys have any favorite hangouts? I'll be done with class at 10:50am ... I'll be in CSB.

Can I have some of what you are having?
Which extension are you going to? I went to the extension off of Lusk and had no problems with my bike there, but I was probably just lucky, and stupid.

I'm taking Physics 100C (Electrodynamics) on campus. Looks like the lot in Thurgood Marshall will be closest.

Dop, I am sorry to say, i witnessed the cop writing out the ticket to you. I lucked out big time today. Right after class ended i went out to where we were parking and saw the bastard writing several tickets. Luckily he didn't get to my bike yet. I jumped on my bike and rode outta there before he noticed that i didnt have a permit either. Its time to get a permit.

Sup Homies ...
I saw a couple of bikes there this morning ... a CBR RR with license plate "1 SIK RR" and various other bikes, including a blue ZX-6R, another Yami, and a yellow GSX-R.
Any of you own those bikes? I was the yellow R6!

Where was this? zx-6r with a hot bodies undertail... that's probably kevin and yellow gsx-r... there's a lot of those around what year? If it was like 04 05 yellow with carbon fiber stuff and a hotbodies undertail is probably our friend Rosi.
