Got a lucky save yesterday while riding through Highland Valley Rd...takeing a tight left curve, luckily saw a truck coming so I slowed down, but right after the truck I saw the patch of sand right in my path :errf: , hit the sand and the whole bike whipped left and right, but managed to save her from going down by throwing out a leg. Ouch!! ****ed up my knee a little..but I'll live.
Unfortunetly three of my friends didn't have so much luck....
Wasn't there for either one but got to hear the stories.... Had some friends go on a group ride on sunday while I was stuck at an Easter lunch thing and the bad "gu-gu" started with one rider getting a flat on his GSXR 1000 (luckily it wasn't while he was riding), that got fixed, then another rider in the group dropped his new R1 tryin to do burn outs, (frame sliders saved it), and as if things were going wrong enough they still went out to the canyons and had another one of their riders in the group run off the road into a ditch! As far as I am told, he is okay and the bike has minor damage. The flat tire and dropped bike should of been clue enough that things just weren't goin to go right that day..ya know?
Then...just this morning had a friend (who is just barely learning how to ride) high side in the neighborhood he was practicing in. He rolled up to a stop sign, romped the trottle, didn't grab the clutch in time and flew across the road into a parked car, high sided it, and totalled his bike. Everything from the front forks, the radiator, and front part of the frame got tweeked. Poor guy is limpin around with a sore body and a bruised ego.

And...on another subject, had a friend get thrown from a moving van he was in while going down the on-ramp to the 15, he got some serious damage to his head and shoulders and was layed up in the hospital for two days.
Lastley!...had another friend go in for surgury sunday afternoon after getting in a fight and bustin up his eye.....(this being only weeks after he broke his nose in a mosh pit at a Korn concert!)
Whew!!! Frickin eventful weekend for all my friends! Anybody else's weekend play out like mine? :guitar:

Anyways, Highland is always frought with sand after the slightest rain. I normally avoid that area for a week after. Should have gone out with Chewy and I. Went down telecrash, and had a blast! Road was clear, save the few mexicans getting back home.

Getting back home? or finding a new one?

stacia, you need to be careful with some of the people you hang with.

Stacia,

Glad to hear you were able to save it. Sounds like you are more responsible than your friends and that is probably why you didn't have a narly crash.

Glad to also hear your friends are okay and walking. Safety is the number one goal this forum has worked towards. Just remember, the type of riders you hang out with usually is a tell-tale sign of the type of rider you will become...

So let get you on the TRACK and show your friends how it's DONE!

Sounds like so much fun!

Seriously, glad you walked away from your spill but to be honest with you, Highland Valley doesn't take too kindly to unexperienced riders.

Lets see here: friend gets thrown into a van, friend highsides in a neighborhood, friend dumps bike by trying to do a burn out, friend needs surgery from mosh pit fight... I think we have the making of a Biker Boys sequal! Y

You hang out with some real winners!

Yeah..this one had me puzzled as well :errf: According to my friend he was in his buddies van, sitting in the middle without a seatbelt. The driver was getting on the 15 S, when the car in front of his slammed on the brakes, so he swerved and slammed on the van's brakes, side door flew open, and friend flew out! Ouch!!

wow, highland valley is the first place I crashed

good save, there's not much runoff or room for error on that road and the tight sections are often dirty
