Alright guys and girls, its that time of the year again where we need to organize for the PC Show. This time though, let's make it good since last quarter was rather a bust. Since we are trying to get funding for the event this time we need a good turnout and good event ideas. There was a hypercycles meeting last week but only a few people showed up so.....this thread is to see what kind of event ideas we can come up with (bbq? music? club signups? etc...) and what we should do DURING the PC Show besides just sit there...:ha:

The funding form is due next friday so lets get the ball rolling!

Indeed.... like we talked about... perhaps a session where regular ppl can get on our bikes and learn basic controls.... like whoever's interested
or even have a camera man that takes pictures of ppl on the bikes and post up on the hypercycles website so they go there and the site gets some more hits

I dont know about teaching people on our bikes, but I think a bbq will be nice with music. We can also fundraising at the bbq if that's possible? Im always down to help this club.

We just need more exposure and try to keep a clean rep. with ucsd. BBQ, music, bikes.... what are we missing??? Babes :-D. peace.

I remember at the last PC show everyone kept asking us if we were going to raffle off a bike. :silenced:

Joe, have you gotten the blue form for PC yet? And date? If not, maybe when we go do that we can ask about rules for food and raffles during our event.

Maybe there should make hand outs on how exactly to get a licence. Make it a simple handout giving links and phone numbers to trainning programs and the different ways you can learn to ride and get your licence. Also have some tips on correct riding gear and maybe a list of shops in the San Diego area. People can take turns standing and handing out to passing people. Oh ya make some flyers for peopel to join hypercycles forum.

As for the session where people could get on a bike, I think its a nice idea to draw attention. If willing, you can show someone your bike, let them sit in your seat (No rolling around, could end in a major hurt) and show them all the controls and proper control.

You wanna make the handout? Rosi's been busy you know jOe! Im down for the BBQ, I think we need a grill from AS that cost 20 bucks. But i dont know anything about the protocol for this stuff so unless we look into it then we can't fundraise here, but im down to bbq for the club.

Just talked with my roommate and who deals with AS Funds for her club. Basically we can get funding for certain group activity that promotes our club's focus and interest. *ahem* trackdays *ahem* Or something like transportation to go watch AMA (even though it's a little late to request that but it's a good example) Request need to be submitted by 5th week and mandatory meeting need to be attended.

Also we can request funding for flyering, but it's usually no likely that they'll gve money for JUST flyering because it's pretty cheap. At Imprints, since we'd be principle members it's 4 cents a copy BUT we have to have the AS logo on all of our flyers.

So we should think up of some future events that we might be able to participate in.

if you think it up, post it, i'll note them down

- I think the information pamphlet is a good Idea...depending on funding... if you can make a small pamphlet that can go 4 up on a paper (4 long strips or 4 rectangles) it would be reasonable, and if you go through AS put our logo big and their logo small in the corner... or just run off to kinkos?

- can you play some motorcycle race movies? borrow a small tv or something and keep em playing so people start gathering just to see the crashes :)

- too bad funding isn't gonna be great ... hypercycy bottle openers would rock ;)

er ok if I think of anything truely usefull Ill let you know

To get funding you have to go to the SOFAB meeting - May 3rd at noon in Student Leadership Chambers (3rd floor PC), or May 4th at 6:30. You wont be able to get funding for this quarter though, you have to submit the form by next friday for fall 2006. All funding request are due the quarter before you need the money by 5th week

Anyone going to the meeting? I can make it to either one of those times, but May 3rd preferably. Thanks for the heads up Barry.

All right, got the space reserved... unfortunately it wasn't the day you guys wanted (this is the first day available):

Wednesday, May 31 2006 (reserved all day)

I also reserved three tables. Everything else we gotta bring ie. ramp, canopy etc.
If this does/does not sounds good to you, post up or message me on AIM (HotPalanisami).

Pretty much. We all ready did the SOFAB meeting (only need to do it once a year), so we just need to come up with some ideas for events and file a request for next fall. Howard all ready volunteered to work on this with me (although admittedly, he is doing most of the work :) ) so
hopefully we will have something to tell you early next week.

If you have any ideas let me/Howard know ASAP – ideally they are events that promote campus-wide involvement.

well I did like the idea of having a TV out there to watch some of the rides going on or anything. I wouldn't mind bringing my PS2 to play some motorcycle games.

How about just holding another ride to Palomar, but geared to recruit interested people. Bike or no bike it is still a great ride and a good experience for some people to see some techniques on riding. And even if NOBODY we tried to get interested shows up, it owuld still be a good ride for all of us.

PC show is the PC show, it happens every year, once a quarter....

If you want to make a group ride you should make it separate in the group rides section.
It sounds like a fun idea!

Thanks for blueforming PC!! It just to happens to be a day after a long weekend again, but hopefull people won't have an EXTRA long weekend and come to classes on Wed. And how about planning a ride June 3rd, the saturday after the PC show? We can pass out flyers for that during the PC show? It's not exactly the weekend before finals so maybe we might have a good turn out?

Too bad no one has a wheelie bar on their bike, I remember going to a recent bike show, people had their bikes standing in a 12 o'clock position with the front end pointing straight up. I thought that was pretty cool idea. It definitely is an eye catcher to see that.

The idea about people sitting on the bikes, taking pictures, givin them the 101, I think is a good idea, but I don't think any student would just assume that is what we are allowing or offering. If we wanted to do that, maybe we need to put up a sign or announce it somehow on a flyer. "Come out, sit on some bikes and see how it feels to ride a motorcycle..." something of that manner.

I thought they wouldn't let us play music last quarter, or nothing amplified? If allowed, I can possibly ask my friend to DJ. This is just an idea since i would have to confirm his schedule and see if he is up to it in the first place.

I recently got ahold of front and rear stands I can bring in to mount my bike onto.

We need some women to model for our bikes, then the people will start flocking over! haha

I was making my rounds through the usual web sites and I found a great downloadable booklet let that addresses everything about how to ride. Down side is it's 11 pages but it is LOADED with information I wish I had when I was first trying to learn.

Heres the link: http://www.californiabikenights.com/learn/

bbq/food/selling stuff must be blueformed along w/ the event so if that's not done yet then we cant do it on the day of PC show, but i think it would be a fun thing to do on its own on a separate day

TV, i think i've brought a tv every pc show for a while, keeps our club members entertained while they're tabling :) anyone have an xbox/dvd player? maybe we can play motogp again :)

I'm willing to help make the handouts, does someone already have that covered? if not lemme know and i'll start working on them or brainstorming

oh yea ive got some dmv handbooks leftover from admit day, i'll pick up some more before the show

I think people would get a kick out of sitting on a motorcycle and learning the basic controls. Maybe charge $x to have a picture taken! [LOL for all those posers out there]
The handouts and information sounds like a good idea, maybe add in some information about safety? Too many people ride without considering safety...scary.

You know those frequent e-mails that we always get from Studen flyers announcing events. O_o Let's use it in addition to flyering for the PC show. Do we have a club e-mail in which we can submit the e-mail flyer?

For our main attraction during the PC Show should be the $99 August 12th Hypercycle track day. Anyone with slight artistic abilities want to help out in making the signs? We get usage of free poster paper and paints up in to SOLO office.
