I read in Sport Rider magazine that the proper shift points are close to the redline on every gear. Please give me some feedback on whether you think this is correct or not.

Depends on what gear.....
max hp on some gears are way short of the redline....some may be closed....this is true...best way to find out on your bike is get it dyno'd.....then you can detremine the shift points to have maximum acceleration between the gears
I did this in my eclipse at the track...got it dyno'd found out my shift points and knocked alot of time off my runs...

RPM's on R6 redline at 15 or 15.5k, bike starts too lose torque at 12.5k, I guess I should shift around 12 or 13k when I am running it hard?

Luckily the HP curve on my is pretty linear, so I do that.
