So I was out at Pahrump this weekend with http://www.socaltrackdays.com. It was slightly hot and I could tell I did not drink enough water the night before. So in the morning I am trying to turn fast laps and improve on my best time. I go out for about 7-10 laps and then I'd be beat. So in the late afternoon, I decide I am going to go out and run till and I am delerious. So after 15 minutes I start to feel tired. I also felt like my tires were starting to slip more and were almost done. So I decide I am going to just take it easy and work on being consistant with my lines. I work on being smooth, consistant and "better". Much to my suprise I wasn't going slower at all, infact I shaved 2 seconds off my fastest lap and I felt like I wasn't even trying. I also managed to stay out for 40 minutes untill I ran out of gas, (yes, I know, shut it! :silenced: )
So by being smooth, calm and relaxed, I was able to go 2 seconds faster than when I was pushing "hard".

I was there both days. I was looking for you, but there were 24598752 blue/white gixxers. I did spot you some time after lunch but didn't get a chance to meet up with you. I hope you weren't looking for my Duc, cause I was on an White SV650

You know, you're gonna laugh, but I've gone karting a few times at Mirimar, and there are a couple corners I just couldn't get a good line through. Until there was a caution/yellow out, and I was jsut going slow but thinking about the lines.
The more I can force myself to not TRY going fast, I find myself laying down faster times. And while it's just a game, same thing in Gran Tursimo...
The first time I ever got my knee down on the bike was when I thought I was taking a chill run down the mountain, and next thing I know, there it is...

I was having trouble with the final turns 9 and 10 combo at Pahrump in the morning. There's nothing like that at Willow, so I wasn't sure how to go through there and get the proper line for 10 for a good drive onto the front straight. I'm really impatient with my riding -my weekpoint- so as I was blasting through there each lap, I wasn't getting any better at it.
Eventually I started paying attention to how some of the better riders took that combo when I was behind them. When I was behind people who were going a little slower, it put me in the position where I could be really relaxed through there, because I wasn't trying so hard. Once I went through that combo a few times behind people at a slower pace, I figured out what I should do through there.
I often times get too ahead of myself and won't slow down unless I don't have a choice.
