Hey fellas, Im Matt. A somewhat new rider (a few months on a '99 F4) and now am the proud owner of a 2004 600rr. Im really looking to get plugged in! I met a few of you guys (Joe, Dob, Walt and Matt) out at the tables today, and Ill show up at the meeting on Thursday for sure.
In the mean time wanted to be less of a stranger up here on the boards. Just sent my check in to DIITT for the upcoming track day! and would love to put in as much riding before then as possible, as Im more than a little intimidated about it.
Im comfortable on pretty much any local road (although not fast at all :errf: ) Im like that snowboarder who isnt shy to hit up the double black diamonds, but brakes the entire way down the run! I guess its how I like to learn - slow but on the real roads.
Would love to here from anybody! Where to ride? When you guys ride etc.

Black body with silver, mostly stock at this point - just got the new turn signals on so thats about it.
Captain-M, eh? Heh kinda has a nice ring... Ok - so here my first nub question: On a lot of the track day threads, Ive seen people saying they got "lapped at 8" or "passed on 8" or something similar. They always seem really embarrassed like getting lapped at 8 is really sad or something.
Would appreciate somebody making me a little less ignorant!
Thanks.

Thanks.when people say a number... they're usually referring to a certain 'turn' at that track.
dude... don't even sweat it.
once you're done with a day at the track...
those turns will be rolling off your tongue with just as much ease!

Well...the thread you probably read was the August 12th track day...so when they're saying turn 8, they're talking about Willow Springs Big Track...which is where the Hypercycles Track day is going to be at.

Hey let me know if there is a ride this weekend!!!
Turn 8 at Big Willow is a common passing area. How fast you can navigate turn 8 is dependant on suspension setup in conjunction with the size of your nutz..
