Hi guys,

I'm trying to sell my R6 which I'd gotten into an accident with 6 months ago. I've spent some time fixing it again and it's nearly complete. I'll see if I can post some pictures. It has 13k miles on it and I'm looking to get $6000 for it. Is anyone interested?

When you say nearly complete.... what is not complete? We talking cosmetic damage or like missing an engine case/ordered a new frame damage?

i think $6k is a little high for a banged up machine. post up some pics ;)

Here's what's missing: I'm having problems with the shifter not going past 2nd gear. Sometimes it does, other no matter how hard I pull up the lever it doesn't want to upshift. That, and cosmetics: needs a front visor, the stock mirrors and front turn signals are a bit scratched up, and the tail light needs some work, too.

So $6k is too optimistic, huh? I'll post up some pics.

Now if I could just find where I put my digital camera battery charger...

clean title? Salvaged?

Yeah...6K might be a little much...since I could find an R6 that's never been in an accident for about the same price.

Clean title, not salvaged.

*Sigh*... I owe $8k on it... maybe I can sell it for $5k then? Should I try trading it in? I don't know what to do =/

After quite a long time tearing down the storage unit, I was able to find my camera's battery charger so I'll have pics up soon.

I like that avatar pic btw Redtatt, very nice ink! :)

It sounds like you're more asking for opinions here so I'm gonna violate the rules of the classifieds section... Basically if it were a brand new, sparkling like crazy R6, you could get your $6,000 - $7,000. There is a huge market for bling bling bikes in Southern California. Those kids are willing to pay tons. You could probably get $5,000 for it if it were just cosmetic damage. The slightly rashed bikes sell to canyon riders / track day junkies / racers. That's a smaller market so you're down to about the $5,000 range. But that gear getting stuck thing is a killer. I would say $4,000 - $4,500 with a problem as significant as a whack gearbox. You'd have to find someone who doens't care how it looks AND has the desire to tinker with it mechanically. Since you're tyrign to minimize your loss in that you owe $8k on it, I'd say it might be worth your penny to repair that and get the bike in a mechanically sound state.

Why are you trying to sell it anyways? If you don't mind me askin.

Thanks Tre, and sorry for making you violate the rules of classifieds, and yes I was looking for your opinon.

I'm selling the bike because I won't be able to ride this summer purely for financial reasons:
1. I'm borderline on losing my license from speeding tickets (ironically most are from my car), so I can't afford the insurance.
2. I'm trying to pay off all my debts to go to Europe with my girlfriend to attend a wedding this summer
3. I'm trying to save up for a car because mine is just about to die (I have a '98 VW Jetta w/ 141k miles on it).

I feel so stupid... I bought this damn bike for $11k brand new which is why I have so much still left to pay. Though I have to say it was a blast to ride!

So I took 3 pics... brutally honest opinions please. Do you guys think I should take more from different angles or closer/farther?

Almost forgot pic #3. This is the tail light that needs fixing. The light works fine, but it needs to be installed properly (used to have double-sided tape that attached it to the bottom.

Hey no problem brah.

I'd like to get a better look at the left side. That's where everyone's attention will be dran to.

for the shifter,...make the shift rod just a little longer by adjusting the rod, and let me know how that works

Ok, here are some more shots from the right side.

Probably the best shot is this actually...

uh, it's not shifting into 2nd gear because when you shift up (assuming you have regular pattern shifting), the part of the lever closest to the rotational axis is going to be blocked by the piece where the footpeg attaches to the rearset -- well that's what it looks like to me.

Wait wait wait... I'm reading badiozam's comment as saying he can get it into first with no problems... next shift into second with no problems... but then cannot get it into third right? It appears that smurf was saying that h ecould only get into first and that's it.

From looking at the left rearset it doens't look so bent that the thing wouldn't be able to shift, but I could be wrong.

If we're assuming the following:
That badiozam's bike is standard shift pattern, that is first gear is down and two - 6 are up.
That he can shift into first gear but not into second.

THEN... I'd say let's look more closely at the rearset as everytime he tries to shift into a gear that would involving him clicking up it won't go.

If we're assuming this:
That badiozam's bike is standard shift pattern, that is first gear is down and two - 6 are up.
That he can shift into first gear and into second without problems but not into third.

THEN... we have a bigger problem.

Yo bad... which one is correct?

God damn you guys are early birds!

Tre, you are correct: standard shift pattern (one down, 2-6 up). I can get into first AND second just fine. It's getting past 2nd that's the problem.

Im guessing the the gears are fine that its either a linkage issue, or that the (i forget the name its shaped like a star) internal shift star might have sheared. I hear it used to be a problem on kawis. The damage does no look bad enough to have really messed up the tranny. Ill tell ya what, i need a street bike, ill give ya 3k for it! :)

Thanks guys... I think I'll just take it to a mechanic and see what I can do from there.

+1...

I tend to assume the worst all the time.
