View Full Version : 6/17/06 - Moose Knuckle Ride

TreAdidas
06-12-2006, 01:03 PM
The Details:
Day: Saturday - 6/17/2006
Time: 8:30 in the AM... looking to leave by 8:52 am
Place: Mira Mesa Shell Station (click here for Google map) (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=9490+Mira+Mesa+Blvd+92126&ie=UTF8&ll=32.918719,-117.116833&spn=0.016788,0.042915&om=1)

The Reason:
Okie... got me a new suit (my frist one piece ever!)/back protector/gloves at the bbq and I gotta get these suckas all broke in before I go to Streets on Monday. So just a nice chill leisurely paced ride. This suit gives me a pretty mean case of Moose Knuckle.... so expect frequent breaks for "adjustment purposes." Also WaltC said something about a ride... so voila!

The Route: (I say Rowt... some say Root)
Route: I do my routes on the fly... If I had to guess I'd say...

15 North
Highland Valley
Ramona
Ol' Julian Hwy
Santa Ysabel
Mesa Grande
Palomar
Home.

*This route is always able to be changed.
**Bring what gear you have.
****All are Welcome.****

My one piece suit just came in today!!! I got to break it in too, but my bike might be in the body shop this week. I really really hope it goes to the shop this week, but if it isn't...I'd like to go on this ride. ;)

Hey, uh... After realizing my suit wasn't breaking in enough and losing weight wasn't affecting that particular... area; I got mine adjusted at A Walker Shoe repair, fyi.

If I don't go to Miller in Utah this weekend, I'm there.

Cool... thanks for the info!

Yeah I boght the suit small. I bought it because it was cheap and I was considering buying a suit that was one size too small anyways. It seems that my current leathers kept growing. So I figured that if I started small they would fit me better in the long run. So I'm gonna go home tonight put them on, get in the fetal position until I can't take it anymore.

Sweet!

I think Bex's bike is all track prepped... apparently she's too cool for riding the street these days.

Hey McDizzle welcome to the site. I apologize but since you're brand new here I don't think anyone knows much about you yet. Have you been on many group rides before? Are you familiar with the basics like hand signals, lane discipline, respecting other riders space? We kinda use "The Pace" as our guide on these group rides. You can read it below. You should know it well because we all adhere to it fairly strictly on these group rides.

http://www.hypercycles.org/forums/showthread.php?t=1198

Anyway, it goes without saying that no stunting, racing, or other squidly behavior will be going on on this ride. If you're wanting to go balls out and prove how fast you are or how good you are at stuntin, that's no problem but you can't do it with us on this ride. This ride is for riding some good roads with great friends and gettin back home in one peice to make it to work monday so we can afford more trackdays.

If following "The Pace" sounds like a good group ride to you, we'll see you at the Shell tomorrow morning. If not, I'm sure we'll see you around these lovely SoCal roads or maybe at the August trackday!!

Yes motarding is encouraged as long as you bike passes the safety inspection*.

*safety inspection involves me riding the "prospect" motorcycle up and down Palomar's tight side until I deem it 'safe', however long that may be***.

*** however long it takes for me to stop laughing hysterically and screaming obsenities to tell you that you passed.

great time guys. that last road was awesome. was that palomar? it was the one right after the lake before we got to that mother's vegetarian restaurant place. i had a couple scary moments, but i've never leaned my bike over as much as today. i dunno if you noticed, V.J. but i got within a few feet behind you going down the mountain. sorry about that :squid: ahem, i mean i was drafting you through the turn

Yea, Christian we took the fast side (of palomar int'l speedway) up to Mothers. And then we cut off and we ran tight side for a while.

I learned a lot on the ride fellas, Im am becoming less of a rookie. The more I learn the more I want to ride harder.

Special thanks to Chucks for taking me under his wing for the first run or two of tight side. Really helped me find my feet so to speak. Thanks man, I owe ya a beer.
