My gf gets all her stuff done at toyota in national city for her 4 runner. My mom goes to Bob Baker in lemon grove for her tundra and my stepdads tacoma. I have enver heard any compalints from either of them on the service. I am a very firm believer in dealer services myself but if not the Sears in El Cajon does pretty good service and the guys are pretty smart there when i got my tires changed out by them

It's a tacoma, tech. Change the oil, spark plugs, air filter, and check the timing and you're good for another 60K. Even my unmechanically inclined ash can do that.

most cars nowadays don't require spark plug replacements for 100k, if you look at what they will perform on the 60k service it will be more of inspection stuff and replace tranny fluid and radiater, stuff you can prob do on your own...

yeah I know, just tranny flush, and basic tune, just dont have the time and space really. Thats what it boils down to. Thanks, but I am just looking at an alternative to a stealership.

Dude you can come over and do the tune up in my garage. You've got a couple hours spare time this weekend or next, right? Well bring your truck and your owners manual and I'll let you use my tools. I think it's a great idea to do it yourself because you'll save money as well as learning about your truck. It's a win-win situation.

seriously though, the 60K mile service is 90% inspection. What you wanna pay? I'll do it for you...

What Heyson said ShePTechman! The 60K service anywhere you go whether its at the Toyota dealership or a Toyota specialist is mostly them "inspecting for worn parts".

Per Toyota's requirements here is what it consists of:

Additional Inspection Items:
Inspect ball joints and dust covers
Inspect drive shaft boots (all 4WD models and 2WD RAV4)
Inspect front differential oil
Inspect transfer case oil (4WD models)
Inspect steering wheel, linkage and boots
Inspect brake linings/drums and brake pads/discs
Inspect brake lines and hoses
Inspect exhaust pipes and mountings
Inspect steering gear box
Inspect fuel lines and connections, fuel tank band and fuel tank vapor vent system hoses
Inspect fuel tank cap gasket
Inspect transmission fluid or oil
Inspect engine valve clearance
Charcoal canister
Rear differential oil (all models except 2WD RAV4)

Additional maintenance items
for special operating conditions:
Transmission fluid or oil
Rear differential oil
Inspect nuts and bolts on chassis and body
Replace front differential oil(4WD)

To be honest with you, I would change the oil, air/oil/fuel/transmission filter/cabin filters, coolant, transmission oil, rear diff, plugs, PCV valves, rotate your tires and check the brake pads by yourself and screw the dealership. That shouldn't take you that long, maybe a couple of hours.

I just read a fine print on the bottom that said Nissans Only, give them a call and see what they charge, Sorry tried to be helpfull

My altima hit 106 with the original plugs, and still passes smog with them. It's due for a tune-up now but dont change the plugs, its a waste of money.. I know what it is like having a new vehicle and wanting things done by the dealer, Nissan has great deals on servicing vehicles, and I have a coupon that u can have if you like. for 269.95 u can get a 60k service. service includes

engine oil
filter oil
top off all fluids
rotate tires
check tire wear
adjust pressure
balance
clean battery terminal
replace wiper inserts
air filter replacement
fuel filter
cabin filter
replace spark plugs (non platinum)
drain and refill differential fluids, manual or automatic and engine coolant if applicable

inspection of all lights, charging/starting system
exhaust
transfer case
vapor and fuel lines
steering gear brakes ect ect you get the picture, if you want it let me know it expires 6/30/06 and it's for mossy nissan...

What the dealer does is considered service, what I mentioned is considersed maintaince.

Ok so say you go the dealer and pay for the 60K service, they'll just "look" at it and if it's worn that 60K doesn't cover parts and labor. Thats a whole new ticket. If you agree then they'll go ahead and charge you another fee for the parts and the labor to replace it. Most times the parts are not available so you would have to come back.

On your truck with 90K miles, I would have all the serpintine belts changed, timing etc, all fluids;{transmission, brakes, oil, gear, windshield}, ac recharged, along with all the regular stuff mentioned for the 60K. The 05's have timing chains so they never have to be replace but rather retightened for checked for odd wear.

Most imports are bullet proof but if you cut corners then thats when stuff will start to break or fail on you.

WOW $270 for that??? thats a rip off ... so pretty much... all they're doing is change oil/air/fuel/plugs and top off all the fluids? you can do that yourself for $50-$70...you dont really need to balance your tires unless you have vibration while driver - just check the airfilter... just my opinion

It's alot less than his quote and he wants it done by a shop. I don't blame him, I get lazy and rather pay for it than get dirty and have to dispose of all fluids propperly. MY 2c

LOL... same here...don't like getting dirty and i'm also lazy... i was just saying instead of paying $270+ for a routine maintenance - just get the oil and fuel filter change from a shop - $20-$40 and change your own air and plugs... thats pretty much a 60k service consist of
