Whoah, correct me if I'm wrong, but is that a Yamaha Seca in the last pic? I've read a lot about those things. It looks like an 82 or 83. I heard they have shaft drive and a hybrid cable/hydraulic dual-disc front braking system........is that true? Wait a minute...................are those the new purple gel pro-grips!?!?!?!?! DAAAWWWW SNNIIZZAAAPPP!!!!! That bike is RAD man!!! That things even got stomp-pads bro-ham. TRICK!!!! I bet it does bodacious wheelstands!

BTW if you could post a better pic of the seca without that sea-green bike in the way that would be awesome.

Yea...I also heard they come with speedometer cables that drag on the ground to gauge your speed.

Do they make a Ohlins for the 05 ZX6R?
afrothunder
06-18-2006, 12:01 PM
it would be the same one...
but since the zx-6r doesn't have a side-mount boss in the frame...
you'd have to get a top mount to get it on there.

Yeah I looked... no go on that. But I did email Ohlins asking if they needed a prototype bike. So hopefully?!?! hahaha..

Actually it's Yamaha's advanced "fly-by-wire" system. It was developed in secret back in 1980-81 and test fit on select Yamaha Seca's the next year. It combines traction contron, anti-lock brakes, and lean-angle assist capability and seamlessly integrates them into the main computer dashboard. It's really quite advanced stuff, I can tell you all about it sometime if you've got a couple hours to spare.
One un-publicized feature of the system, however, is the use of the fly-by-wire system as a weapon, protecting against outside passing. To allow another motorcycle to pass, the rider must first press the "merciful" button on the handlebars, otherwise the bike will automatically whip-crack the attempting passer right on the asscheek at somewhere around 300 feet per second. I have since disabled the system due to legal reasons.
